So this Sunday Dave (Oxford Snake) and I did the PPRV delete on my Cobra. Ok so Dave did all the real work I just helped where I could ;)
So Here’s what‘s involved in the PPRV delete:

Step 1: Remove wheels and exhaust.

Step 2: Remove lots of hoses, clamps and clips and drop the gas tank. Oh and remember to empty the lines right Dave :p

Step 3: Stand back and admire your hard work.

Step 4: Pay the pizza guy, enjoy your Pepperoni, Sausage & Ricotta cheese pizza (ask Dave) then carefully remove the fuel hat/assembly.

Step 5: Not so carefully hit your head when replacing the fuel filter.

Step 6: Cut and attach the new submersible fuel lines.

And that’s it, the car has ZERO hesitation now when shifting hard between gears and getting on/off/on the gas, nothing! It’s great!

Damn.. I need to be all over that, i've got the "shift hiccup" bad!! :xpl:

Thanks for the pics and write up. :pepper:

Question: Where would be the best place to go find the parts needed to do this job. I see a Y-fitting, "re-using the stocker?" and this "submercible" hose you speak of. Would not just any "high quality" fuel hose work?

Just an FYI, you don't have to remove the exhaust or the wheels. I did mine this way, the tank drops down right between the pipes. Nice pics.

Great information! The pics really are helpful. This thread should be a help to others who are contemplating doing the PPRV delete mod.

+1 that extra work was not necessary but whatever. also you may want to check the lines in the tank again in a few months to ensure they aren't kinked.

Has anyone found or installed a check valve to help the car start easier after the PPRV delete.
My car will start....the Rpms go up then it drops and stalls. I have to give the car some gas ,on start up, to keep it from stalling.
It seems like there is some fuel in the upper part of the line, but it runs out of the lower half (towards the tank). So the car starts but then it runs out of fuel and then it starts pulling fuel again.

It took all of 15 minutes to pull the tires and exhaust and I am sure it saved us time having to wrestle the tank down between everything.

Thanks for the nice pics and writeup. Any details you can add for draining the fuel? I've got 3 or 4 mods in my garage already awaiting time to do them but I'm tempted to do this one next. Do metal parts rust in gasoline? I'm wondering about those bandclamps.

so what does this mod do exactly? sometimes when i slam to the 3rd gear it feels like the car is cutting fuel real quick, would this mod get rid of it?

This mod gets read of that exact issue, for me however it was worse, every gear change at WOT the car would feel like it died. Or say you are driving spirited at around 3000+rpm then go WOT it would hesitate (lack of fuel) then take off.

I got all my parts at Napa should run you around 60$ or so for everything you need:

2 x 1 foot pieces of H213 (30R10) Gates submersible fuel line

6 x 705-1226 clamps

1 x fuel filter

just out of curiousity, is this something a stock cobra should worry about....I don't have any hesitation problems during shifting.....car has 60,000+ miles on it and runs like a top.....

Hah ya it's a bit scary, it really helped having 2 sets of hands. I was shocked too that the car started up first shot and the gas guage still worked :)

You haven't had any hard starting issues since this mod?

So far my car either starts up right away or on the second try. Dave's advice is this:
- Turn the key to on to prime the pump
- Turn off
- Turn on to prime again
- Start the car.

Works everytime!
