Product or method to remove undercoating from engine bay?

The prior owner had some undercoating done on our Mach when they had it new and as a result, the shock towers and inner fenders are all covered in a layer of the coating. I tried just using a wet cloth and rubbing to see how hard it was to get off. To my surprise, I got some of it off in a small test area but it took a lot of effort. Paint is perfect underneath the coating. Is there any product out there that would help break this stuff off so I can get it out of the engine bay? I am planning to do a full engine bay detail this summer and the undercoating is going to leave it looking awful if I can't get it off....

Thanks!

We use some stuff called solvent at our dealership, super strong stuff. Will not affect paint as long as you get it all off. Should be able to find it at carquest maybe napa.

You might want to give paint thinner a try. A lot of those cheapo undercoats are oil based. The paint thinner will dissolve it without even touching the paint.
