This is a cross-post from another forum, but I thought I would share some pics of the carnage from my recent spun rod bearing.

Results are in... It doesn't look too good.

I spun the #5 rod bearing and copper shavings were everywhere. Funny thing is I found what looked like to be the head of a mangled up screw. I can't imagine I dropped anything down the oil returns, but it is possible. I haven't pulled the heads, but the clyinder walls look good from what I could see.

A few of the main bearings had scratches in them and copper showing in the scrathes. The main journals on the crank looked great, but one of them had a small scratch. This crank is being trashed, so I'm not too worried.

The spun rod had splayed bolts, so it's not good either. The rest of the rods looked fine.

As for some pictures....

Something's missing....

Rear main seal popped out :-0

Oiled flywheel because the rear main seal blew due to a failing check valve on a crank case evac system.

Dirty belhousing, also from the rear main seal.

Pressure Plate and disk were fine.

That's why I'm not so upset, I've already started planning for a 600hp Taurus  (I may settle for 550hp in hopes of not stripping 3rd gear)

Yup, and that would be a rod journal on the crank.

Man that sucks, was that your supercharged sho? Btw is a journal a bearing?

Yeah, it has a Vortech T-trim currently at 11 PSI. I may up it to 13-14 PSI.
