Pretty long reply, must have a lot of time between charging that Cyber truckI hear everything everybody is saying and I understand in the heat of a gun battle split decisions must be made, but that was not the case in the situation.
There was an amber alert and it also was acknowledged that in the vehicle there was a hostage situation, even if there was said to be multiple gunman. Furthermore in that moment, there absolutely Hass to be better. Communication and/or better plan of attack, knowing that there is a victim in this situation.
She clearly follow the instructions given to her by an officer, to just say oh well shit happens and the officer gets to go back home to his family with no repercussions because according to @ZYBORG all Leo’s should have qualified immunity while the actual victim is gone forever because of a situation that she had no control over .
I don’t feel like anybody should have absolute qualified immunity. We are all human at the end of the day and nobody knows the cops mine state they were in at that time everybody on this board and everybody life in general has taken aggression out on somebody or some thing that did not have anything to do with the person or object that is affected. To just completely absolve them of any mistake is the worst possible thing you can do.
They are held to a higher standard and that is why if you do anything to a Leo( eating something minor as much as a fist fight) you will get the book thrown at you ( and rightfully so ) so it Hass to go the other way, if an error of judgment is made. If a doctor is having an off day and give somebody the wrong dose and kills them they do not have qualified immunity, because they save lives on a regular basis.
The absolute biggest problem that I have is how long it takes body cam footage to come out, in situations like these transparency is crucial and the fact that it took a matter of 18 months for the footers to be released raises questions IMO
