I have this Ford Racing 8.8 Diff Cover.

Going to change the fluid out and looking at the instructions that it came with doesn't have any torque specs for the drain or fill plugs nor does it have a recommendation for any type of thread locker. Does anyone know the torque specs for the fill and drain plugs and whether or not I need thread locker on both or one of the plugs?

Thanks!

Just go snug on it and I wouldn't use any thread locker. Drain plugs seem to get tighter the longer they are in.

If it leaks, tighten it a little more.

I just did this on my 65 this past weekend.

Checkout my post #2,086. I used a thread sealer that is gas and oil resistant. No torque specs, but I snugged them both up pretty good because they were both leaking without the thread sealant.

I'm going to try this, but I have sealant on hand now as well just in case.
if you already have thread sealant the gear oil wont **** up it certainly cant hurt to use it and just be done with it. Kinda hard to re-seal that drain plug when its full

Teflon tape or pipe dope.

As mentioned, it’s pipe thread. Gets tighter as you go.
