I just had to replace my right rear halfshaft due to a torn cv joint boot. I am now looking for a kit to replace the cv joint boots, does anyone have any info?

Eating a steady diet of government cheese, and liv
good luck finding a boot, but if you can find one....

cut the clamps off the old boot
pull the joint off the tripod
with a set of retaining ring pliers [no i didnt say snap ring pliers] move the retaining ring down the shaft
push the tripod down the shaft
remove the circlip you revealed by moving the tripod down
slide tripod off end of shaft
slide boot off end of shaft
slide new boot on
put tripod back on
put circlip back on
move tripod back up
slide retaining ring back up
fill boot with grease
put joint back on tripod
install new clamps on boot WITH A BOOT CLAMP TOOL not end cutters.
throw half-shaft at car

Boots will be difficult at best to find but I found A-1 Driveshaft can do the job for you.

They do have some geography issues however not knowing where Milwaukee is.

IIRC it was $49.00 per boot for parts and labor. I had an '01 outer and an '03 outer done there. Sure beats throwing away a perfectly good halfshaft!

Thanks for the info guys. I travel for my company so I will check out A-1 Driveshaft when I head out that way. Like Bruce said, do not want to waste a perfectly good halfshaft, if I can get the boot replaced I can use it as a backup.

Do you guys know if the halfshafts are interchangeable right to left?

Halfshafts are interchangeable left and right.

The only Ford IRS that I know of that was side specific was the 2000 Cobra R.

FWIW
