Nation’s oldest military veteran dead at 112

Saw a NatGeo special on him when he was 108, a man's man for sure. He smoked 10-12 cigars a day for years.

I guess you can't be too sad though? This guy won the life lottery, and lived it to its fullest! A hero and a patriot. They just don't make men like this too often anymore.

112! I'd say he lived a full live. RIP, and I salute him. He is a definite hero in my eyes. Yep!

Think about it. This guy was almost 40 when WW2 ended. He fought in the greatest war that was before my dad's time (born 1954) yet was already coming up on middle aged when it ended. That's nuts.

May he rest in peace, he was a true hero, and a real character. I read that he sat on his front porch and smoked as many as 5-10 cigars a day, it's hard to believe he lived to 112. God must have needed him on earth for something important.
