I dig it and an electric motor, strictly from an application perspective, is the perfect match for a truck. The instant, massive amount of tq is perfect for towing. The remaining application hurdles are battery density and to a lesser extent, charging time. Infrastructure will explode once market acceptable solutions are developed for those.

First off I’ll say, I love the power, the high end interior and the fact that people are risking so much on this.

Then my brain says... Hold up! Ford just announced a 2020 electric F150.
Ford and all the other truck manufacturers have 100 years of experience, engineering, customer base/loyalty and engineers that know exactly what will happen in every situation that vehicle will find itself in.
These guys appear to be starting from scratch.
As a self made entrapenure I can’t imagine the balls on these guys to jump into the deep end like this. That’s massive balls.
I don’t see it going far however.
100% wish them the best and wanted to try one... until I heard the E F150 was coming. Then I thought, wow, that was over fast.
Ford will pull their nose out of their ass.

I would actually have to disagree. I think starting from scratch and designing a vehicle that is going to be electric from the beginning of the design process is better than taking something that is based off of being a gas engine and turning it electric.

The Tesla's placement of the batteries on the bottom of the car give it a great lower center of gravity and allow for more interior room etc. In a gas car, a lot of weight is in the front because of the engine (obviously).

Long story short in my opinion, the fact that Ford makes good trucks and has been for many years, in my opinion, does not give that much of an advantage in the fully electric truck world as much as a company who could perfect an electric truck while starting from a clean slate.

Oh man!! I WISH my truck was your's little brother... Mine is basically stock...'18 Silver 5.0, 3.73, XLT Sport, 2.25" level, 305/55/20 BFG's on Platinum wheels with 1.25" bora spacers.
I can't help it...I restored a '79 K10 years ago and took it wheeling...and found mud in random places for years later. Never again!

I will definitely get a full report from my coworker who has the deposit on the R1T. I'm curious if the deposit was on a specific optioned truck...or just a place in the ordering line?

the guys always ask me why i dont take mine offroad.

Cuz it's expensive? hahaha

Trade ya, 5.0 exhaust > 3.5 exhaust :( :(

Plus you get the updated stereo!

Surrounded by libetards.
If it's around $61k like they said in the 2nd video I think it's impressive. Not a huge fan of the styling but the features, performance, and range are very impressive. I love that seat on the side of the bed.

It's expensive cause shit breaks lol.

Losing power steering in the middle of BFN is a great experience lol.

Think half my bed was reserved with a jack, crap load of tools, impact/torque wrench, spare parts, and a repair manuals.

Was just at Disney Hollywood Studios and realized this "truck" at WOT would be about as fast as the Rockin Roller Coaster! (its 0-60 in 2.8 seconds vs. the R1T's 3 second 0-60)

My biggest issue is I do use my truck...occasionally...hauling stuff in the bed.
If I'm reading this right...the bed is only 4.5' long...? Thats kind of a deal breaker for me.

Actually this is more important than I thought...when I got my new truck, I couldn't stand not having the V8 sound track because the stock exhaust was too quiet...
WTH would it be like with NO sound at all?!?

(For anyone considering a new F150 5.0, the 12:1 sounds SWEET with muffler delete, but the drone at 1600-2000 was unbearable to me...three setups later...I'm back to a muffler delete, with home built 32" Helmholtz resonator...and IMO its perfect!)

looks nice on paper but will not be production or economically viable without subsidies and/or a stratospheric price point.

Their best bet is for ford to buy them out completely. They will not survive in this sector even if the truck could go 700miles and tow 20,000lbs. You simply will not achieve the proper economies of scale before you run out of capital.

Telsa has been around for 15yrs, still cant turn a profit and they need to raise another $2bil in capital this year to keep the lights on.

This company has potential for sure. Very close friend of mine went to high school with the founder.
