Just a little more information for all the people that are harping on the "illegal" nature of the clinic. A clinic may be perfectly legal in terms of conduct, but if the city refuses to grant a license (because the new clinic will compete with older clinics that have already paid very large bribes) I don't see that they are committing any real crimes.

They were waiting for their day in court. The system in Santa Ana "MAY" be rigged.

It has now been shown that all the "legal" clinics have paid for "favors" to the mayor. Use of a Limo for long periods of time, expensive dinners at which the tab was totally picked up by the now legal clinics that were in the process of being licensed. Cash kickbacks from the legal clinics to the powerbase in Santa Ana.

Now that the Los Angeles and Southern California press have stuck their noses into this it doesn't look good for a lot of Santa Ana officials. Lrom the mayor and chief of police on down.

This may turn into another Bell Gardens where the mayor and the entire city council are serving state prison sentences.

Damn...

Found this: http://photographyisnotacrime.com/2...bribe-from-competing-pot-shop-lawsuit-claims/

But now the lawsuit contends the thuggery came straight from him, accusing the mayor of conspiring with police, city officials and medical marijuana companies to create an “enforcement program,” which required the companies to pay $25,000 to participate in a lottery program regulating the number of permits issued.

Essentially, protection money.

Pulido, who won his 11th term in November with the help of a convicted killer as a campaign consultant, is also accused of accepting “limousine services, expensive dinners and shows, currency and gifts from individuals and entities seeking to establish control over the Santa Ana marijuana market.”

But Long Beach attorney Matthew Pappas has apparently done his homework, saying in a press conference Monday that he has “witness proof” and “paper evidence” that back up his claims, all which will be revealed in the trial.

UPDATE: Los Angeles photographer Shawn Nee tweeted the Santa Ana Police Department about the drug raid and was immediately blocked, which raises censorship issues considering it is a government agency. Also, last month, Pulido paid $13,000 in fines over a shady land deal with a city contractor.

To me its the same as a business operating without a business license.
Mostly likely they were following the Prop 215 laws which are legal here in CALI
Either way its just ANOTHER case of the GOVERNMENT doing what every it deems needed! While trampling on peoples rights when they may or may not have broken the law. This happens all across the country in all types of different cases. Citizens being convicted by the police !

Its federally illegal. If you open a dispensary better be prepared to get raided at some point.

Its all well and good it the feds come through. That the chance you take. However the FEDs would never act this way! Even After Obama said he wouldnt ...they still shut down 80% of the dispensaries in Sac. about 5 years ago.
What they did was go after the land owners and sent them Cease and Desist orders Stating that there we leasing their property to criminal busineses and that they property would be seized. Since most MMJ dispensaries didnt own their own building, the landlord didnt want to fight the fed and they got the boot!
