I have a 2011 GT500, I have had it five years and it's a great car. I drove in a friends Mach 1 with the Handling Package (2022), and I fell in love with the car. It's leaps and bounds better than my 2011 GT500, it's not as fast, but I'm getting older and speed isn't everything. I like the heated and cooled seats, the dash is fantastic, the B&O sound system is great, and the car sounds amazing with the active exhaust. I also like the fact that if I do decide to track the car at an HPDE event there isn't much to do, it has all the coolers etc.

I'm looking for Mach1's and it seems like the price is starting to come down a bit, I never thought I would sell my GT500, but I have to say, Ford did an amazing job on these Mach1 cars. I am looking for input on the pros and cons, money is not the issue, although I wish I could keep both, I only have space in the garage for one car.

I wrecked my 2009 in June of 21. I bought my 2018 GT in July of 21 and as you have discovered, the S550 is leaps and bounds ahead of the S197 platform in handling, tech, and creature comforts. The Mach1 is really really nice. If you go manual, it has the Tremec. I am finishing up a Whipple install on mine to make up for the loss of power and especially that low end torque that I grew accustomed to. I missed the "prestige" of being a Shelby owner, but even fairly stock, my GT did everything but accelerate better than my Shelby. I think you won't go wrong getting the Mach 1. Just my opinion. They are really nice, and if you miss the power, there are lots of forced induction options for it to make you happy.

Thanks! I don’t think I have been so excited about a car in a while. Your are correct, you just cannot compare an s197 to a newer model run of the S550. How does the s550 do with forced induction? I’ve never really paid attention to that since I’ve been into the s197 platform,

If money is not the issue, as you stated.
Than I would 100% go with a lower optioned, new GT500.
I mean Machs with good OPTIONS are $55k+. Your almost to 500 territory.
Mod the Mach 1, and you will surely be in the GT500 bracket

I've played this out in my head several times but will not let my '13 go.
When the time is right will add another 13/14, or new base model GT500

Whipple Gen 5, 3.0 liter will be north of 700whp on 93 pump with ID 1050X's and a BAP if you have someone good, not Whipple tuning it. Add fuel system and run E85 and you're mid 800's.

I have thought about this, and while money is not the main driver, any newer GT500 I see is in the 80's-90's. That seems like a large gap from the 55K I would spend on a Mach1. Thanks for giving me something to think about.

I’ve enjoyed the Mach 1 a bunch. It’s no comparison to a ‘11 GT500 in raw power/torque but mention HPDE events and it’s M1 all day.
Mine is my current daily and for that it’s amazing.
I’d love to take my ‘23 M1 Tremec HP to the track and will start with Track attack
1300mi on temporary tags and I’d say go for it.
ESS blower and pump E85 on my plan.
Who parks near the shitters in the employee lot?

Agreed for almost all aspects but price and his intended usage.
If you want a manual trans special Mustang built for HPDE that’s fast but not scary fast, I still say M1.
DD is M1 for sure.
I like my comfort Recaros, digital dash, auto rev match down shifts, flat foot shifting exclusive to M1 over 350.

Thanks for the info, I think I am leaning towards the M1. I really like the handling pack cars, but they are hard to find. I like silver, FJ gray or white. I was looking at one a couple days ago that was local to me at a ford dealer. Was a 2022 M1 all the option including handling pack and only had 2,000 miles. I hesitated for a few hours, and car was sold before I could call back.

Some of these dealerships crack me up. I found another one I liked, it was not a handling pack car but had every other option and was a left over 2022. Dealer had it on the website for 58K, with only a few pictures. So, I call and ask if they have the car, they proceed to tell me, yup it's in the show room. I ask them to send me a buyer's order, please make sure it's at the internet price. I receive a buyers order for a selling price of 67K, plus 2K in combined dealer fees bunch of other add on over and above the actual taxes. Something like 72K OTD. It's all so tiresome.
