Even though it has 95 more hp than the Z, stock for stock the C5Z has a better power to weight ratio than the GT500. (7.65 vs 7.80 lbs/hp)

And having more potential is debatable

I agree! You can spend $5-6K on a supercharger for a C5Z and easily make 500rwhp, the stock bottom end can hold that all day long assuming you have a good tune.

A gt500 would have to make 630whp to be comparable to a 500whp Z

Ford would really have a monster of a car if they could get the weight down.

Yes they would, the GT500's have grown on me, I used to hate them when they first came out. Personally I wouldn't get rid of my Z for one, but to each their own. Just add a 100 shot to the Z and a stockish GT500 should be no problem.

If you're looking performance for your dollar I would keep the Z06. However, I would much rather have a 2010+ GT500 than an old C5, not even a question. It's all personal taste, and whether you can afford a new GT500 which is way more expensive than a 7 year old C5.

I voted keep the Z but for some reason I thought I read it was a C6. So no since I traded my 01 Z in on just a GT mustang I'd say go for a GT500.

A good friend of mine has a C5Z and it's a really nice car but I'd never take one over any year GT500.

I had a GT500 for a weekend while having a C5Z. I wasn't very impressed by the GT500. It felt huge and you're sitting really high up. The power was alright, I just didn't like the feel.

GT500 for me. Twin screw it, 800+rwhp on stock block. Handling isn't the most important category for me since twisties are pretty much non-existant here.

If we're talking C6 z06, then it'd be a different story.
