Hot off the press from SEMA 2013; SCT has released their brand new hand-held programmer, the SCT X4. In early 2014 the X4 will be replacing the current industry standard, the X3. SCT’s X4 adds many new features and greater functionality compared to the current model, including: a new compact design (5.5” tall x 2.6” wide), full color LCD screen, WiFi connectivity, 2 analog inputs, ability to hold 10 custom tunes, as well as a more ergonomic interface (aka, better buttons).
Pricing has not been released at this time, but we did get a chance to play with a few prototypes in SCT’s booth at SEMA 2013. I really liked the newer, more modern, design that still retains many of the familiar X3 styling cues. The color screen has very nice resolution, which should make using it as a gauge or performance monitor quite appealing. Overall I think it will be a great successor to the X3 that so many of us have come to rely upon as our go-to device for custom tuning. I plan on trying to get my hands on one of the prototypes this week to get a closer view of some of the features, and I’ll be sharing it right here on SVTP. Until then, be sure to check out our coverage of SEMA 2013 starting later today.
