The GT500 is barely as quick as a Base C6.
Gt500 =12.9 vs C6= 12.8 (Car and Driver Heads up test, with the same drivers, on the same sday, on the same track).
Sure, a modded 600 rwhp GT500 might pull on a stock C6-ZO6. So what?
Think about that..
600 to the wheels...
Thats about what it will take.. I dont think that kind of power is a pulley and exhaust away on the GT500.. and you will eat parts with that kind of power.. That kind of power hardly makes for a reliable street car.
actually it should take about 563rwhp from the shelby to equal a stock 450rwhp Z06. A bolt on/pulley shelby should be a good match for a stock Z. A blower upgrade will be necessary for the modded Z's.Purvis said:You guys are in la-la land.

here are some power to weight #'s that I pulled out of a post of mine on socalterminators.com
3664/390 = 9.39 lbs per HP 03-04 cobra coupe rated HP
3780/390 = 9.69 lbs per HP 03-04 cobra vert rated HP
3920/500 = 7.84 lbs per HP 07-?? shelby coupe rated HP
4040/500 = 8.08 lbs per HP 07-?? shelby vert rated HP
3664/425 = 8.62 lbs per HP 03-04 cobra coupe actual HP (360rwhp)
3780/425 = 8.89 lbs per HP 03-04 cobra vert actual HP (360rwhp)
3920/529 = 7.41 lbs per HP 07-?? shelby coupe (based on Jay O'Connell saying 450-460rwhp, using 450rwhp)
4040/529 = 7.63 lbs per HP 07-?? shelby vert (450rwhp)
3664/494 = 7.41 lbs per HP 03-04 cobra coupe (420rwhp)
3130/505 = 6.20 lbs per HP 06-?? Z06 rated HP
3130/529 = 5.91 lbs per HP 06-?? Z06 average rwhp per the vette forums(450rwhp)
3179/400 = 7.91 lbs per HP 05-?? C6 coupe rated HP
3920/662 = 5.91 lbs per HP 06-?? shelby coupe (563rwhp)
3664/620 = 5.91 lbs per HP 03-04 cobra coupe (527rwhp)
of course none of this take in to count gearing, aero, etc...but then again, how much does aero effect anything under 100 mph, and all cars have fairly long gears...a gear swap in any of them should prove to be a good advantage.
Your logic makes alot of sense.. :rollseyeschuckstang said:thx for the update but when comparing cars why not use the best times from the best drivers for both cars because mmff drove the car to 12.2x
so basically go eat a dick
Purvis said:Im not hating on thecar..I may buy one. I just think its amusing you guys are comparing the GT500 to the ZO6, when the car isnt even as fast (it seems to be around the same) as the base C6, acceleration wise.
power to weight is the name of the game. Like I said aero doesnt really affect what we do under 100-130mph. Gearing makes a difference, but all of these cars have similar gearing from the factory. It's a much easier and far less expensive job ($450 vs $1000+) to do gears in a mustang vs a vette, so that is also a factor when changing up.VenomousSVT said:you are on it dead nuts! We have a larve variety of cars that run with our group. We raced a H/C/I c5 making around 450hp with a 535rwhp terminator. The outcome was very surprising. The vette lost by around a fender, thats it. The gt500 making 500 rwhp will be no match for a c6z06 making 500 rwhp
FAsnakes said:You first said "a modded GT500 will be working over a Z06 in the near future. That's a given."
Why'd you flip it around to a terminator? Then you start talking about running mid 11s?? To me, "Working over" means working over. At the track, on the street, from a roll, dig, etc...
Lets get this straight. There's always someone faster out there, period! Truth be told when I was in my 04 Cobra that laid down 461 RWHP (More HP than the factory stated GT500 & lighter) I was raped by a honda civic hatchback from a roll and a dig. You see the thing is, your previous post is so brazen and ambiguous. Which is why I questioned it and asked for additional info. It is possible, in the same breath, anything is possible. HP numbers don't win races. GT500 vs C6Z, there's no comparison. But if you like you can compare the GT500 to the C6 (with the LS2)
I apologize to the thread starter, for replying to this post as it is off topic.

there are 3 red in white coupes in the yard now not sure if they are going to diego.i took some pics today if someone can post them for me that would be cool. pm me ... ;-)COBRA CRUIZER said:hp freak thanks for the update! Let me know when you see a red/white coupe heading for San Diego. Thanks
that stuff happens dude.. ive been delivering cars for years now and the trucks have steep angles on them and the cars like shelbys,sl65s and srts are getting lower and lower and im sorry they get damaged but they are repaired before theire sold and anything over5k can not be sold as new...thats what my claims people tell me anyway.kloogy said:This is hilarious.
