I bought an OEM shift knob and I have tried to screw this thing on a 100 times and I cant get it to end up in the correct position. I know with some aftermarket shift knobs you of course have a set pin which the OEM one does not have, so does anyone else have any advice on how in the world I can get this thing to face the right grip direction?

You could use a locking nut that threads on first then the shift knob. Thread the nut all the way down... then the shift knob... adjust the knob to the correct position then tighten the nut against the knob.

Stock and most aftermarket shifters use a 12mm x 1.75 thread pattern.
