Thanks in advance for coming back here later with any updates. Hope you can get the info your seeking. You definitely have a nice Cobra there, so that's a big plus.
For sure man, I appreciate all the help and responses. Hopefully I’ll be able to come back with some type of news haha! And that means a lot man, been wanting one since I was old enough to realize how badass they really were/are especially for their time, along with nothing else like it. Glad I could finally get my hands on a decent one, been browsing for a while. Thanks in advance for coming back here later with any updates. Hope you can get the info your seeking. You definitely have a nice Cobra there, so that's a big plus.
For sure, would love to!! Just not totally sure how to go about that. I have seen people have build threads, but I’m assuming mainly people with some followers. Not quite sure how that works. Any insight is much appreciated! Now you need to post pics of the Cobra!
Sounds good man will do, thank you for the help. I’ll have to look at my rear and def check that out, thank you for the info!!Start a thread in the Pics and Videos section so we can all get a look at her! Pic posting is much easier with the app on a phone. Don't have to do any of that hosting business. My two cents anyway.
I too suspect somewhat of a drag racing history with mine. Car came with the stock blower with 2.8 upper so not nearly as modded as yours. But, it had 4.10's and the rear knuckles have been shaved down where the tie rods connect in order to (I believe) run a smaller diameter wheel with lots of sidewall.
Thank you!!!! I think this could be my answer. Feel stupid for not checking into that side of it more. Previous owner was a service member and had said that one before him was as well. This may be the answer!! Thank you for your help, and thank you for your service. I’m assuming there is no way to check these registration records. Its possible and probable that this car may have been registered out of country. Hawaii has a HUGE military presence. When I was in the service I was able to buy cars direct from ford while on deployment so you avoided paying the sales tax. The dealer would then ship the car for you to your duty station. Hawaii has a HUGE military presence.
No sir unfortunately no stickers of any kind, I think I’m gonna look up some bases over there, last known (recorded) sale was on Oahu so maybe there?hmmmm I'd have to think on that one. I know all vehicles driving on a military base are registered to essentially the base's dmv. Did the car by chance have a sticker in the drivers side front windshield with base info and a registration number on it? If you had this number you may be able to see at least what base, and where it was located when it was registered.
Saw your name and knew there had to be some news!! This means a lot, looks like the rear bumper has been replaced, and some minor paint work all over. Not too sure about the front, why is that? Thank you for this, major lead. Would you happen to know the name of the shop? Really cool you saw my car!! Figured it was an early build. Really sad there is no documentation of that.If my memory is right that car is from Oahu yes , and it was one of the first cobra’s with the 3.4 whipple when it first came out and yes they shipped it to Maui severs times to drag at our track , the car ran good although they had timing problems and not especially talented driver , it was fast neverless , not sure of the whole history but it came from a performance shop of racers , does it have any trace of possibly replaced body parts ? Like front valance bumper cover ?
Would you happen to know which island the shop is on? Or maybe someone you know may know more. Anything is appreciated. I know it’s a lot to ask. Also did you say you were involved with the track? Highly doubt there is any picture/ video of the car.It was drag raced a very long time ago right after the first 3.4 whipples were coming out and then never seen again , I can’t remember the shop offhand but I did speak to them once about tuning my car
This means so much to me!! Very cool how things work down there and I really figured one of the other track/svt/cobra guys would know this car. Like I said, any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.I will try and find the name of that shop , been a very long time but only a couple people tune fords and they are on Oahu , I’m in Maui , and I was willing to ship my car to them to have them dyno and tune , but my car hasn’t been out in decade
Sounds good thank you very much. Will do some more digging and see what I can find. It’s in Oahu , the only performance shop that tunes fords , if they are still in business it shouldn’t be hard to find , start googling ford performance tuning , dyno’s , in Oahu ,
Very cool! If you don’t mind could you try to find some of those? Not sure if they would be in the track records/someone you know. I will look on YouTube and google as well. And yes sir, she is pretty wicked. Thank you once again. Mind sharing some of your cobra?Yes there may be some pictures of this car at our track , it was one of a kind and fast , I think I was the only other cobra terminator that ran there , so it was a stand out when he raced , it’s fast be careful
