Whether or not it is worth it is going to be unique to every individual. It is worth it to me - it apparently wasn't worth it to stlblack03. Which of us is correct? Both, and neither. It is personal preference based on our own biases, needs, and desires.

I will be going to a solid axle in the next couple of weeks. I won't do it without upgrading, as the stock 8.8 diff won't handle the power and weight of the car on a sticky tire for long (of course, there are exceptions). To that end, I'll be installing a Detroit Truetrac, 31 spline axles, and 3.90 gears.

I'm sure it will handle the HP, but the question is for how long? Can you get 30K out of it before it begins to whine like a little bitch? :poke:
No way in hell with a stock 8.8" out of anything last that long with moderate thrashings.

A built 8.8"??? Wont be a problem, unless the installer messes something up.
