do you have all your grounds hooked back up? block to frame?

Yes. One was a little loose, so I made a new bigger one and tightened it to a better spot.

I bypassed the BAS tonight, and it felt better, but still not right. It ended up throwing the Coil circuit failure codes again for all 8 cyl's. PO351-PO358. I need to verify the voltage going to the coils, and I have a spare set of coils to try also. If not, I have a spare ECU to try also. Annoying.

Yesterday I swapped my coil packs out for a set from a whipple car that was making 600hp. I bypassed the boost-a-spark, and the part throttle miss went away. So I threw it back on the dyno today, with my gap still down to .024. The only other thing that was different today on the dyno was I left the cut outs closed, and boy did that choke up the turbos! haha

The boost came on later, and the car made about 50 less hp. but, it still did the blowout or something at about the same power level as before all the ignition swap was done. I also metered the voltage on the common side of the coils and it never dropped below 13.1V during the pull.
Here is todays graph over layed with Saturdays graph. Anyone have any other suggestions as to what could be causing this?

So far I've changed the plugs, coil packs, MAFia, and boost levels. No matter what, it keeps doing the same thing. I guess the ECU is next. I looked at a friends cars pulls with the same kit, stock motor, 01 Cobra intake, same MAF/MAFia set up, and his pulls were as smooth as can be on 0 smoothing, even down low, where mine is still jagged. All my plugs I have pulled out look perfect and identical to eachother.

Red is boost controller unplugged, making about 9#'s and in 3rd gear.

Green is no boost controller and 4th gear, 9 #'s.

Blue is 18#'s and fourth gear.

Brown is 18#'s and the cut outs closed.

No, wont be back til Monday. We are gonna check the valve springs. We think they may need adjusted. We left them the way they came from Livernois, and now we are thinking we shouldn't have.

Valve springs? How do you plan on adjusting the valve springs??

I'm seriously calling Livernois in the next 15min and ordering my stage 3 heads and custom cams so I wouldn't mind knowing what you mean here... Are you thinking the lash isn't set properly, or the valves aren't seating properly or something??

You're thinking the springs are too weak causing valve float?

Is it possible to remove one and confirm it's spring rating? Man I definitely feel for you though, this must be one hell of a frustrating experience... Keep us updated for sure!

No, still chasing my tail.
Livernois heads seem great, just kind of questioning the springs right now.

Never pondered valve float, right about 5200 in boost my car breaks up. I asked the tuner what gap he used and he said .035 which seem WAY to high IMO
I'm adding some TR7's w/ a gap of .029 hope tomorrow

Thats what I'm doing now. I dropped a spring off yesterday at a local machine shop to have it checked.

Thanks, very frustrating indeed!

Well the machine shop tested my spring and he said he thinks they are way to weak. The one he tested showed 105#'s seat psi @ 1.45 install height and 250#'s at .475 lift. He said he would like me to have a spring with 140# seat psi and 380# open psi. The only ones I've seen anywhere near that are on Modular performance web site for $750! Ouch! Anyone else know of any?

Have you contacted Livernois about this? I might contact them myself considering I just purchased their stage 3 heads, I don't want to run into this sort of trouble...

I called and left a message with Mike Schropp, their engine guy, but havent gotten to talk to him yet.
I've talked to two respected engine builders that arent really mod motor specialists, and they think the springs are the problem, but Modular performance, MMR, and Livernois, say my springs should be fine, at least for my pump gas boost. With the springs being $750, it's not like it's a cheap trial and error piece.
