SRT-4

Give it up people. Your going to fight on which car is better? That is matter of opinion and you can type all day and nobody cares. Drive what you want and be happy with it. If you have to take the time to get on the computer, look up threads, and bash cars then something tells me you don't like the car your in or feel insecure about it (or yourself).

I respect all kinds of cars no matter if it's a Escort or Neon. Dodge made a good call making the SRT in the same fashion as the old GLHS cars.

BTW, here is my friends old SRT-4 with a couple of bolt-on mods and slicks that ran 12's.

Both are cool cars. I bought my svt because it was much cheaper (insurance and monthly payments) and is very fun to drive. I don't need 225 hp at the wheels have a great driving experience, I am happy with 150ish. ;-)

these threads always crack me up. We all jump on the band wagon. If you are loyal to Ford like i am, i just glanced at the Dodge and bought my svtf. You have to admit, its gonna suck when you pull up next to a SRT-4 at a light and it blows your doors off, but then the SRT-4 will get blown by lots of Mustangs, Corvettess.....civics....etc there's always a faster car... I think each of these cars has its own niche. If you want to go fast in the 1/4 and that's what you live for, then buy the fastest car you can afford. I bought the svtf because its Ford and because its a damn good compromise....

What cracks me up is are the people who think just one thing is important AND that everyone else must think the same thing is most important.

Like why would it suck any more to have another car pull up that is faster in a drag race than it would suck to have a pickup pull up beside you that can carry more kegs to the party?

I don't JUST drag race and I don't JUST haul kegs.

Son of a b@#@!... now I have to get a trailer hitch so I can hall more kegs. Did you really have to go and set another performance standard?

I know it's been said, and mostly beaten into the ground... but it's a forum, so I'll chuck in my $.02. The reason I drive the great pumpkin now started with the SRT-4. I realized I could afford one(until I looked at the insurance), and thought that I'd go test drive it. If you wanna go fast in a straight line, no doubt, buy the SRT-4. Not only does it have more horsepower, but you're wallet will be lighter than if you drove an SVTF.... and we all know weight = speed.

The SRT-4 is a great car for going fast and driving short distances. But if you are going to spend any amount of time in your car, and want creature comforts, the SVTF beats it hands down. Front power windows and rear roll up windows are just plain tacky. The seat is really comfortable, but would get real old, real fast. Also, I have shorter legs, and when I drove it, second gear had the tendency to smack into the front of the seat. Annoying.

In conclusion, the SRT-4 and SVTF have very different priorities, as do their owners.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get to the local U-hall dealer to get my trailer and hitch so I can up my KPL. (Kegs per load)

Kegs are us.......just kidding with ya AZ. I think what makes all of these discussions interesting is the aftermarket can help you build just about anything you want. I was on the focaljet forums yesterday and found a vid of Tom's turbo car at a road track and he was passing Vipers and Porches. It was cool to watch. But it goes to show that you can take a SVTF and haul kegs like crazy if you have the $$$$$

This is getting old. I am just tired of hearing the stupid statement "IT'S STILL A NEON" Yeah your right, It is a supped up Neon.

I was once a owner of a 2001 Focus ZX3 and then they came out with the SVTF, Well guy's let me let you in on a little secret. Your SVTF is "STILL JUST A FOCUS" Oh yeah I forgot a supped up focus. LOL

Bottom line they are both supped up versions of econo based model's and that is the truth!!!

You have to give credit to dodge, They did a great job putting this car together. I love my 04, I have nothing but good thing's to say about it. I think the only thing I can say bad about my SRT is that it just Blaze's the tires and is hard to get it to hook!!! It get's annoying to me because I just went from an 11.0 AWD DSM to my SRT-4 so it is quite a change. I like the interior in it the gauges are awesome and the boost gauge and pod are great, The steering wheel is nice, the shifter is nice, the seat's are very comfortable, great room in the back for passenger's, The Stereo system in the car suit's my need's, The roll down back window's I think is a cool touch(less weight lol) , 60/40 split back seat, Nice trunk space, 4 cup holder's in awesome location's, ECT ECT..

I guess my point is it is all in what you like. And whether you FOCUS owner's like it or not the SVTF and SRT-4 are more similar than you think in that they both started life as little econobox's. So the next time you say IT's still just a NEON!! Remember that you still are just driving a "FOCUS" .

Ok well I have been out of the loop on Focus stuff for a while but last time I checked Turbo Tom was the only one running 12's in a ZX3 and I believe he is running 12's in a Turbo SVTF right now.
But what the hell do I know I am a "NEON" Owner

First off I had a 02 SVTF ZX3... Best part of the car was when Civics neons and other stupid focus drivers would pull up to me at a stop light and ask me if my car would go forward or not... and kicking there a$$ was the best part..

but to high jack this topic... My 02 would do a 14 second flat 1/4 after alot of NA work and weight reduction.. carbon hood no back seats ect.. I think the SVTF was smoother feal out of the two... The car is under powered for what it can handle. Needs a 220+ Superchared/Turbo 2.3l I4 and now the car is set.... FORD needs to do something about this...
My brother in law owns a 2002 SI and honda in 05 according to his news letter he gets every 6 months will be putting out a 220+ hp Turbo SI-R.. Chevy jumped on the wagon with its COBOLT<---think that is spelled right 200+ SUPERCHARED I4... evan SATURN is putting a turbo over 200 HP out if my alzheimer's serves me right... so I think with FORDS new ST car is a mistake... Maybe SALEEN will do more with the old SVT platforme then there 150 NOS focus

TO DATE MY SVTF WAS THE MOST FUN TO DRIVE around town.
My SRT-4 will out handle it, remember you have more power you are moving faster on a track more room for ERROR..

My Best friend has a 03 SVTF ZX5.. when I go to AZ you know what I drive.. HIS car and he drives my SRT-4...

If you want one get one.They are very nice.I would take one over a Focus myself,but you know Ford is going to release a turbo focus before too long.
