In short, Ford's claim of 540 horsepower at the flywheel is conservative. This mill is comfortably cranking out something north of 570 horsepower on the possum urine they call California 91 octane "premium" fuel. That's no small feat.

This is just one dyno run. Im willing to bet that the average 2010 GT500 will dyno ~475 rwhp or so.

The engines cannot be underrated. Just like the previous GT500, They are SAE CERTIFIED, meaning that they must be +-1% of the SAE Certified rated horsepower.

I wouldn't put too much emphasis on these dyno numbers. Could very well have been STD. The real proof is what the car does at the track. Track numbers don't lie. Regardless, it's pretty obvious that Ford's advertised numbers at the crank are understated. Now if only the GT-500 weighed 3,600 lbs. :)
