Indeed my good man.God bless those brave men.
God bless those brave men.
AH YES- That reminds me of when I commanded a company a few years ago in Afghanistan, during OEF 11-12. We were a medium truck company missioned to provide convoy escort/ convoy security in RC-N. On one of our long hauls, we came under direct fire. The shots we took versus the shots we gave back were punishing, to say the least. Apparently they miscalculated the resolve of the US Army National Guard. We had 6 to 8 gun trucks on that run with M2's, M240B's and MK 19's and they all got in on the action. The Brigade Commander said from the beginning that ISAF forces don't run from the enemy, they stay and fight- and that we did.
In the debrief, my battalion commander told me that we shot more rounds on that mission than the last convoy security company shot all year. He then followed it up with 'your folks did a good job'. I told him that when they see our trucks on that road again, they'll think twice about engaging next time.
I just had to comment on this vid. It makes me proud to have been in that country and out on those f'd up roads. It brought it all back, just like it happened an hour ago. We lucked out, we brought all of our guys and gals home. Many great commanders weren't so fortunate. No matter what training you go through... its all about timing.
I'm loving the CSM and LTC right there in the fight. Good leadership!!
**** that noise.
I've never been in that situation and hope I never am.
Having said that, our men and women over there rock. Plain and simple.
Believe it or not, you get used to the noise and it doesn't bother you anymore. lol.
I'm glad none of our guys got hurt in that video though. That was a few inches from being BAD.
God bless those brave men.
From the looks of it...was most likely an F-15...hard to tell if it was a C or an E strike Eagle.Wow that was some awesome video. I love seeing American fighter jets do work. I hate it for the guys on the front line, they go through so much. God bless them and I hope they all get home safe.
That was an F-18 I assume? F18 FTW!!!!
I will never forget the first time I was sleeping and the closest C-RAM went off and Raptor were scrambled.
A few weeks in and it was fun to point and laugh at the guys running for bunkers when we would get mortared.
