The single lap argument is short sighted.
I wouldn't be surprised if you could run it like that for a few 100 thousand miles cumulatively.
There is a longevity factor that the supercars can't ignore.
100 laps LOL. Best case it goes into limp mode or bursts into flames by lap 5.
different strokes for sure, I know a guy that literally spent $10M on a rediculous solar/geo thermal system for his house to save $500/month. Thats no exaggerationThere is a guy who runs a model 3 out with NASA, he is in my wife's running group.
He gets 5 laps out of it before it overheats, but it's sort of a blessing because if he ran a full session, he wouldn't have enough time to keep the car charged. There is usually a few hours between sessions with the car plugged in, and he is usually one of the first people to show up to put it on the charger.
I guess he is a really cool guy though, my wife said he is the first person to talk to her like another driver. Asking questions about her setup/tires/brakes, what lines she runs in specific turns, etc.
He said the car was neutral and pretty easy to drive initially but he has done quite a bit in terms of suspension, aero, brakes and tires to get it to where it's fun to drive.
It does beg the question of why you'd opt to consistently put a car that's "sort of" in it's infancy on a track every month when it's obviously not sorted yet, these aren't cheap weekends and he is getting cut short by at least 1/2. Not to mention the entry price of the car, and the cost of consumables is around 4x what it costs for something like a fiesta st.
Different strokes I guess.
ROI of 1667 years.different strokes for sure, I know a guy that literally spent $10M on a rediculous solar/geo thermal system for his house to save $500/month. Thats no exaggeration
Oh and no surprise... The family drives Teslas..ROI of 1667 years.
You know the federal government would think that's a sound financial decision lol
My 2020 F150 has a 36 gallon tank. With a range of 820 miles on the highway. I can drive from my house in New England to my house in FL in 15 hours...with one fuel stop required. An acquaintance in FL drove a very similar trip in his Tesla. Took him 46 hours with 19 "fill ups". That said, I'll race the Tesla Plaid to FL from NE in my F150. I'll give him a 10 hour head start. How about "title for title"? Additionally - my F150 has a smaller carbon footprint & is almost 100% recyclable.
this debate is no different than any other on this forum.
If someone has enough passion, time and the ability to ignore objective evidence at times…..they will come up with a point of view that supports their position.
Trying to get them to change or evolve said POV is pointless.
If somebody wants to spend six figures on an EV. Go right ahead.
. Took him 46 hours with 19 "fill ups". .
Yea that is one of the major problems with this site. A lot of people commenting/complaining on something they have no experience with.19 fill ups to go 800 miles? the range on almost every tesla is 300 miles, so he would need 3 fill ups which would take 1.5-2 hours for all three. Sounds like your friend has car trouble. And I dont know many people who don't want to stop after going 250 miles non-stop...you gotta eat, use the restroom etc.
Comparing the fastest production car that runs low 9's stock to your f150...got it...
I stopped paying attention to this thread because of comments like this.
And by the time the tech is perfected the gov't will be taxing the ass off EV's to a point of net zero savings.Yea that is one of the major problems with this site. A lot of people commenting/complaining on something they have no experience with.
in the grand scheme of things with EV, full electric vehicles is still in infancy compared to gas power vehicles. We’ve already made huge strides. I talk to my coworker about his solar panel setup. They spent upwards of 40k to get it installed and everything. But after incentives and a tax rebate it was 20k. But now they can charge 2 evs and paid .20 for electricity last year. The only time they ever get gas is for their bmw M2.
id go the ev route for a daily driver and get the panels to save on electricity. The panels charge the car too. Only need gas for viper and motorcycles.
Lol, 100+ years ago on SVTP there was a long running argument between horse and buggy owners vs them new fangled automobile owners. The horse was clearly superior as it only had to stop for water every few hours, didn’t need to be hand cranked, and reproduced on its own.Actually that's not how the debates work around here...you get people with strong incorrect opinions on things they have never experienced or owned arguing with people who have. You get guys telling the forum his f150 is better than a plaid because of it's 36 gallon tank, or telling people it took his friends tesla 19 fill ups to go 800 miles when that would take less than 3 fill ups. If thats what you think objective evidence is maybe you should apply for a Judge position in Portland.
I know it’s easy for a lot of people to mix politics with everything else, but I don’t think anybody that is excited about this vehicle in this thread is excited about it because they want to save the planet. Lol. The excitement stems from the performance aspect, which is driven by the fact that most of us are enthusiasts. Will be a fun little treat for all those who saved the planet
