Looks good, but why do I get the feeling this is a "No one makes it home" movie.

Look into the real story. I would say you really should know the story before you see the movie. The movie isn't going to have all the details most likely so you'll be missing out on a lot of what is an extraordinary story.

Never read the book but the previews look good.

Good book, but already in the preview I see two flaws, 1. They did take a vote on whether to shoot the two sheep herders and 2. This was filmed in New Mexico but the previews look like it was shot near Lake Tahoe instead of Afghanistan. Oh well they probably cleaned it up for Hollywood going opening weekend regardless.
