My uncle was a WSO in F4s. Hurt his neck pretty badly; I was told he was looking down at scope and pilot pulled +G to evade something without a heads up (pardon the pun). Walked with a cane and "no feeling in his feet but pins and needles" the last 10-15years or so after VA "treatment."
I've always thought they were weird looking aircraft, think it's the downturned rear horizontal stabilizers
