Just feel like I need a change. Been living in Central Mass for my whole life and am getting tired of the same old thing. My dad's best friend lives in Tampa and is gonna help me get started down there. Any L owners (or other members) down in that area? What do u guys think???

I have the Lightning and a 954 and am tired of the weather and everything else New England has to offer (or not offer)

So as long as I can land a decent job (I've been in banking for like 4 years, if you guys know of anything, let me know) that's where I'll be heading!

Any opinions or feedback would be appreciated. I know a couple people down there (literally.... 2 people) so im excited and nervous at the same time. Cant wait to come down, but its hard leaving everything behind you and going where everything is new.

Florida is my favorite place, I have been there at least once a year since since 1975, Iam 37 years old now....I lived in Tampa (Palm Harbor) for 2 years..2000-2002......but...I came to the conclusion that the Tampa area is a nice place to visit, but kind of sucks to live there if you have to work and are not rich...
1. The traffic is the worst I have ever seen, and gets worse every year..comes to a stand still for hours in many places in the afternoon rush hour..It will drive ya nuts..

2. Plan on buying a piece of Chit beater to go to work, because some asshole will take out your lightning...ask me how I know..I got hit twice in one year, t boned once and rearended once...not my fault either...I saw more accidents than I have EVER seen before..lots of fatlities....I saw a pedestrian get run over and killed on the sidewalk while at an autoparts store, I saw a drunk asshole run over another guy and he just kept going...with the person stuck to the underside of the car, I could go on on....It seems to get worse every year.Florida also has what they call the worst "Transient" population....

3. Crime is terrible..lots of shootings from road rage...never seen anything like that either...

4. Plan on buying stock in bottled water..The tap water is not fit for human consumption or bathing...Tastes like chit and smells like sulfer....

5. Most business think that they can pay you with sunshine....

6. If there is a bad Hurricane, you are not getting out of there unless you leave 7-10 days early or head to the center of the state to orlando for a hurricane party....

That being said, I love Florida and have been everywhere in the state, many great places to visit and things to do..I would recomend somewhere in the upper Panhandle area, MUCH BETTER PEOPLE, manageable traffic, and a whole lot less crime and the water is good to drink there, and you can get out of dodge if a big Hurricane is comeing...If I move back Iam going somwhere in this area....

Holy crap.....
Been here since 1984,except 3 years in Ft. Myers and I dont see half the crap you are talking about. Did you have well water? Well water does suck.
Traffic isnt so bad if you know how and when to avoid it.
Palm Harbor does suck, Ill give you that one.
Bad Hurricane? One hasnt hit the Tampa area in many, many years. All those huricanes were south, and east of here. Its like a force field is over us. I was in Ft Myers when Charlie went through. It was bad, but I never once felt like I was stranded there. I could go anywhere I pleased as far as leaving the area went.
Its nice here, we have some of the best weather around for 6 months out of the year. Its hot in the summer. You will have trouble getting a job right now though.
Try the Brandon/seffner/Riverview/Valrico area.

You must be describing the "hood." I have lived here for almost six years and have not experienced any of the things you discuss, except for the bottled water.

I have had the opportunity to move numerous times since I have gotten here and I have turned down promotions so I dont have to move.

The Tampa Bay area is awesome.

I live in Clearwater and once you live here in the winter while all your friends and family are back up north shoveling snow for 6-8 months out of the year, you can put up with the other things people complain about this place. IMO, the drivers do suck, too many old people, and too many tourists who don't know where the hell they are going, other than that you'll be fine:beer:
