Well I called FORD csr service. Says they definitely need to be installed with the tight coils up top so SNAKEBITE has his springs installed incorrectly like mine.

Need to get it reversed and then aligned...
You'll also notice in the pictures that the lettering on the rear spring is up-side down.

Can anyone confirm if my rear springs are tight coils up or down?

That is the back driver side

Chuck.

Those are definitely tight coils down just like mine. Not sure if that's the cause of all your problems though.

I'm trying to find someone to swap my coils to tight-side up right now..

Ya, probably not but hey its peace of mind right.

It is cheap too I think to swap the rears only.

Do you know how the factory springs come installed?

I am wondering why my Ford master tech would install mine like this when apparently it is so obviously incorrect. Makes me wonder about the rest of the install and then it starts to make more sense my car does not sit right.

Well I finally snapped some pictures of my car lowered with the FRPP springs.

I have yet to swap out the rear springs since they're installed upside down (tight side installed down!) so I'm not sure if that's going to change things at all.

Those of you with the FRPP springs installed. Does my car look like it's sitting correctly? The front seems a tad bit too low?

I measured on level surface from top of fender to ground and the 2 of the wheels are about 1/4 off from the mate:

LF 27 6/16
RF 27 2/16
LR 28 4/16
RR 28 9/16

Do these measurements sound and look like they're in the ballpark?

I had a big difference in the rear height too. I swapped the springs around and the height difference was much less. You can swap the springs in about 1/2 hour. When you change the springs to tight coils up, have the mechanic swap sides too. Hopefully this will help. The car need to be on a really level surface for your measurements. I would also measure frame heights too. Some here seemed to have no issues, But I plan to go with coil overs later on.

Mine with FRPP handling pack. This was right after installation. I think it's settled a touch more since then.

Yours look perfect from left to rigth with a nice rake.

My driver side looks like your car but not passenger side as my front passenger sits high and back passengers sits low giving a near perfectly level stance (no rake)

I swear it must be my god dam steeda upper strut mounts. I am going to have the factory mounts swapped back in and swap the rear springs to tight coils up and see if that helps.

I think think the steeda mounts were a waste of money because I have actually not heard of one stock upper mount failure on the gt500. Only on the regular mustangs

That was $300 down the toilet but then again perhaps mine were not assembled correctly or installed

how many here reused the factory strut mounts?

When I did my suspension, that was the thing to do because Evo recommended it but I think I was misled

I think the accuracy of the frames is lacking on our cars. I would not recommend anyone going with anything other than adjustable coil overs if you have the $$$$. This is from my own personal experience. Maybe that's why the cars came like 4x4's so you couldn't notice.

Could someone take a picture of there rear frpp springs installed with weight on the axle, anotherwords not jacked up in the air?

I was looking at a bunch of GT500s today and it looked like there springs were just like mine.

First off, other than just what people have told me by my pics, how can you tell which side has the tight coils?

I just thought mine were tight coils down because the coils were sitting pancaked on top of one another but then again, I think my front springs are the same.

I did ask a tech today at Tasca, and they said tight coils up but I don't really know what that means and he quickly looked at mine and thought they looked tight coils up.

I am just all confused and it would be great if someone could post a picture just like how I did by lieing on the ground looking up.

Lastly, someone said when I swap them, switch sides as well? Why would you need to do that and are the springs specific to one side of the car?

Thanks!

Just Installed.

Just installed the Ford springs last week. The front struts are specific left/right units, but the springs are the same either way. They sit in the spring perch in one correct position only. Ford made these springs; so that, they can "not" be cut to lower the fronts or rears as done on earlier models of Mustang/GT/Mach/Cobra. The rear springs are also not specific as to sides, "but" need to be mounted with tight coils up. As stated in several threads. Just jack up your car by the frame on each side and let the rear-end drop alittle bit. You should be able to see if the rear springs are tight coils up. I really enjoy the NEW look:burnout:.
