Human evolution will eventually be bionics, AI, and extending our life expectancy while decreasing health risks.
At a rudimentary level, sticks and rocks and fire helped us out of the jungle. Computer science, engineering, and technology will help us off the planet. The only thing that prevents humanity from exploring the universe is our need to breath, limited life spans, and food requirements. If you put a human brain in a bionic body, you'd effectively give us the keys to the kingdom to explore.
But that's very very far away.
I agree. Our puny fleshy bodies are not built for space travel. Or really living anywhere besides earth. A slight change in gravity up or down is really bad long term. The only way we will explore interstellar space is in robot form.
