Summer of 18 as a 19 model is much better time table.

So food for thought: If Ford releases another GT500 model on the S500 platform as a 2019 model, would all the R&D and testing be worth it to Ford for a single year run? New body style refresh is due out in 2020, and if Ford were to want to continue any "GT500" production, it would be double the work, testing, and R&D to release two separate platforms of a GT500. Essentially you would have a 2019 GT500 that went through years of work, then a whole new model of GT500 in 2020 which I'm certain would take years of work as well. So Ford is building and designing two models of GT500 simultaneously? That's what it would take, unless the GT500 is a single year model and nothing is released in 2020. Assuming one will be released.
Just playing devils advocate.

I agree completely. It's either they do it this year, or they don't at all in my opinion. Not worth it for one year. Dep's story makes a lot more sense. It's also in line with the 755 easter egg via Ford.

The next gen mustang is slated to be released in 2020, meaning it'll be a 2021 model year. If a GT500 were released as a 2019, that means it'll be a 2 year run (2019/2020).

Thanks for the updates.
My dad has a first year '67 GT500 so I was hoping for a 50th model.
Like I said before, I still think this is too big for Ford to pass, they'll sneak in a late short run of 2017s if they doing one. Or maybe a 50th 2018 GT500KR :)

They might not have a choice. They can't call it a 2017 MY if they can not produce it until spring 2018.

The GT350 was introduced to the press early nov 14. 11 months later they barely started production.

Today plus 11 months puts us at Jan 1 2018 and the car has not been introduced yet.

It will be this year...they are past their original release date because of development issues, so getting out this year won't be hard at all.

No worries, just mentioning that so you don't think I just made it up is all :)
It is a 5.0 engine though, correct? I heard talks of the 5.2 engine.
I heard they were going to go turbocharged first, but switch over to supercharger if there were any issues.

Like I said earlier. It was a year for the gt350 after press release. The Ford GT will be close to 2 years.

I doubt it will be on lots 6 months or less after initial public display.
