I painted my valve covers with VHT Wrinkle plus.

- cleaned the surface with brake clean and then scuffed the surface with a 60 pad and then cleaned them again.

- Applied about 8 coats on each cover, approx 1 can per valve cover. First 3 coats within 5 minutes of each other and the rest about 10 minutes in between each coat.

- Allowed them to air dry for approx 3 hours and in the oven they went.

- Baked at 225 for 75 minutes each.

They turned out great!

Here is the finished product:

I did not want any paint in the area where the grommets are to sit. I removed them after the pics. The paint came off the grommets.

I also did not want to disturb the surface around the grommets before I baked them.

The smell only last about 15 minutes after I was finished baking them. The final results will be much better if the whole surface is exposed to the heat all at once.

those look great! be careful not to scuff them on install.

I'll be careful. These came off my reman engine, I plan on dropping the engine and trans out the bottom. Using one of my lifts at the shop and a table designed for this.

I like those a lot. Are you going to use any polished pieces to contrast the black paint? Like polished letters?
