I am currently in the engine build process of my 2007 GT500 ported heads, cams, 2.65 Gen 3 etc..I plan on having different pulley/tune ups for pump gas and on e85.

There is a local zr1 here with a Kong 2650, cam, heads, and 4xxci build on e85.

We plan to race late next year once our cars are finished. Lots of trash talk back and forth. A 60-160 race how do you think I will do? Any tips would be helpful.

You'll easily need an extra 150+ whp more than him, and put your GT500 on a serious diet, are you keeping iron 5.4 block or getting an aluminum 5.4/5.8? That will save you 100 pounds, also look into doing a tubular k member and other lightweight parts, are you doing a T56 magnum? Or keeping the 6060? I still have my doubts if you'll be able to beat him, but If you can make 1100+whp and actually put the power down you might have a chance.

Bro… I’ll just say it’s not gonna happen

Hypothetically you’re gonna need a well built Th400 / converter setup and a big single turbo kit.

He’s gonna 60-160 in the 4s probably… you’d maybe be in the 7 second range.

I will be using stock iron block. My car has the basic weight stuff. I wouldn’t call it a serious diet. But I do have Tubular K, aluminum DS, etc.. I will also be on race stars.

Geez man. What’s his car make? 1000whp?

You’d prob need 150-200whp more than him.

You’re really looking at turbo/auto territory to beat that in a ZR1

He is >1100 if set up right, weighs 400 lbs less, and has better aero. 9.2 to 9.4 all day if he has the tire.

OP needs the hand of God.

Yeah I am trying to make up for for the weight difference. Hoping he makes 11xx and I make 12xx. That should keep it interesting.

The iron block is good, it's just heavy, it sounds like you have a well built GT500, but C6 ZR1s are no joke, especially with a built engine. But hey, just do a 60 to 160 race for fun, maybe it'll be close.
My ZR1 on a 950 whp break in tune is faster than my gt500 when it was making 1100.
I have no doubts about that, ZR1s are rockets. And that's coming from a diehard Shelby guy lol.

Here is what I am basing power off of.
Zr1 like his

GT500 similar to mine

As you can see about 100whp difference advantage GT500. That should make up for the Weight difference?

Keep in mind that's Lund Sr's personal GT500 and he is pushing that to the max, but it's built with the best parts

Better hope he doesn't have this set up.

His power level seems low for the set up TBH. Maybe he has 4 bolt heads?
