what kind of gears for 2001 cobra

im getting different answers on what gears should i get...


3.73s or 4.10s???

i thought 373s would be better cause she is a daily driver, but now i dont know!


whats the difference like pros and cons between the two?

Mine's a DD and I had 4.30's installed. Great gear, but now I wish I would have went with 4.56's. Unless you plan on using a turbo or supercharger in the future, I wouldn't go with anything less than 4.30's.

Use the search. There are probably hundreds of threads on this subject.

Just saw in your sig about the iridium plugs. Save yourself some cash and get Autolite coppers. Our cars don't have plug wires.

I have 4.10 and Imo the 1st gear feel uneccessary as I have to change to 2nd almost as soon as it has started rolling. I'd use 3.73 on a street car, but if you're gonna race then go for higher gears.

If I was going to stay n/a forever I would have done 4.56s but the 4.30 I have are sick and the best money I ever spent on the car.

a minimum of 4.10s. you will still get good mileage, but much more go. 4.30s will feel better and really wont affect the mpg any versus the 4.10s, but will provide more kick.

I have 4.10's and kinda wish I had gone 4.30's. What I can promise you it that if you go to either one, you will not be dissapointed. Night and day compared to what you have stock. But never go below 4.10.

4.30 ftw. My car at 65mph is at 2228 RPM (i have a .62 vs a .68 5th though) I will soon be going centri S/C and keeping the 4.30s but a 6 speed as well.

I would go with 4.56s just so you don't have to use first gear when driving around like a civilized person.

I have 4.30's in mine, but I think 5th gear was changed in my tranny by the previous owner because I don't pass 2k RPM until ~70mph. I've never driven a stock '01 but I will vouch that the 4.30 really gets it out of the hole.
