What's everyone's best reason for buying a Mustang?

I would have to say one of the reasons was just its sex appeal. For some reason, women really love Mustangs. I really don't know why, but they do, for the most part. There's something the Mustang has that the Camaro's and Firebird's don't have. I really don't know what it is since in my opinion those look really nice too.

And of course, nothing beats the sound of a Mustang!:r:

Other than being the original Ponycar, it's a much better daily driver than the competition, IMO. I drove a dozen '94-'99 Formulas and T/As before one test drive in the Cobra sold me.

Back in the 70's I spent many impressionable years growing up in the in the back of my parents 1967 Mustang Gt convertible. It was a 390 big block with a 4 speed. Nothing cooler, nothing faster, it seemed. My dad raced a Datsun Z car once, beating it hands down. Oh by the way, he was pulling a small loaded 4x8 untility trailer behind the Mustang. Or the time he got sideways racing the neighbors 427 Vette on a small two lane road. (Ithought we were going to crash.) He beat it also. Heck with a childhood like this, I had no choice but to drive Mustangs..:)

I currently have 5 Stangs... my first car, a 71 Mach 1, a 68 Shelby GT500 convertible, an 85 SVO, an 88 Saleen #104, and a 93 Cobra R #83. I think it might be an addiction.:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

reason

My reason for buying one (when I finally do), Price to Performance ratio, for the 5.0's. It's a Ford (gotta keep it in the family) RWD, and a V8. Many mods available, for decent prices... that's about it. Still undecided about the 84 gt350 (see the post) thinking about selling my Escort for 2000, and putting 1500 in the engine and appearance of it, but I still don't know.

I've never owned any other kind of car except for the Mustang. My first was an '87 4-banger convertible... It was originally my dads car, but after he bought his '53 ford, he handed it down to me. I think it was in the best condition out of all 87 LX's, as there was no rust and and had a beautiful black paintjob. Well I had that for 2 years and I then bought a 1998 GT. What a nice car that was. It never gave me any trouble at all the entire time I had it. I was originally looking for a 5 speed, but this particular one looked so nice, I just had to have it, even if it meant working my ass off to make the payments on it. Over last winter I put what little money I had into it making modifications (exhaust, pulleys gears), only to have it all destroyed a month later when a stupid bitch talking on her cell phone ran into the back of me going 50 MPH when I was stopped at a light. Fortunately I wasn't hurt. In the end, this turned out to be kind of a blessing, as I got a huge settlement out of it, which paid for my new car, and also paid a good part of my car loan. My new car is a 1998 Cobra. Although it has give me a little trouble (the antitheft system malfuntioning), I love it just as much as the GT. I've test drove the F-bodies, but it seems like they just are lacking something, and my friend's turned into a total rattletrap after 60K miles.

Did you get out and kick her ass? I hate Cell Phone Talking Driving People. As I was leaving school today, waitng to turn left... My light turns green and this Girl (on her cell phone) just sails right on through, (from my right) without a care in the world, she never even noticed. Good thing I didn't have a faster car, or I might be dead.

well I would have gotten out if my door would have been able to open. My car was so smashed up that the sheet metal from the back of the car kinda folded over the door preventing it from being opened. I had to roll down my passenger side window and crawl outta it (it still worked!). Acutally, my stereo was up pretty loud when the accident happened and the impact made the CD player skip, but I didn't turn the ignition off, so a few seconds after the impact the stereo started playing again! (but only through the front speakers) it was really wierd. but anyway, the chick that hit me was like all hysterical and crying and kept on saying "oh my god I'm so sorry!!" I'm sure if she was being a total bitch about it I would have spent the night in jail (assault!). Well it makes me satisfied enough knowing that since she totaled 2 cars (mine and the guys in front of me), and really messed up two others, she's gonna have a pretty hard time finding an insurance company who will insure her for a price that she could afford. I hope she has to take the bus to work each morning!

I've loved Mustangs ever since I was young, finally got a chance to get one and did....to be truthful I was looking for a WS6 T/A when I found the car, and couldn't afford the WS6 at the time.....and would trade the stang for a 30th Ann Ed T/A in a minute.
