Undecided if I want to drive mine or tow it. Figured it would be fun to drive it if there's a decent group that wanted to drive down together. What's everyone planning??
I drove my car down for many many years, just started towing it the last few. I tow it to NC and drive it the rest of the way. The main reason is CT and NY roads really suck, and I do not want to risk damaging the car driving it through those states lowered, fully loaded with a weeks worth of luggage, tools, ez-up, coolers, ect. It is tight packing all that in the car and driving 14+ hrs straight down there. Your wife/ GF will thank you for towing it. I know mine does. Plenty of room in the truck for her to sleep while I drive.
It is so much better towing it the majority of the way and driving it the last 3-4 hrs. Also the piece of mind, that if something were to break and not be able to fix it while down there, I have a truck only a few hrs away and I can get it home.
I've had my share of fixes down there, changing rear brake pads in the hotel parking lot at 9 o clock at night the night before leaving to drive home, swapping the alternator in the show field parking lot, ect. You can never be too prepared. The heat does a number on your car down there.
P.S. I always bring a few extra FRPS because those are known to go bad with the extra heat. I've helped out fellow cobra owners numerous times with them.
I leave at 11 pm Friday. Never hit traffic going down. Drove my 2011 lowered 5.0 last year. And holy hell, CT, NY, NJ have worst roads ive ever driven on. Pretty sure at one point I caught air driving on the turnpike cause I hit a cluster of giant bumps. But, Ill be driving my 03 cobra down this year. Hoping for the best lol.
Looking for when people are leaving. We usually leave early Sunday morning like 2am
I'm following chris down this year and will also officially be towing mine. we are leaving Friday night "15th"
^^^ I'm meeting up with everyone in Chelmsford in the evening. I'll have to check with chris on a time
