How come the 03 cobra stock can't beat a z06 stock? if the cobra has 360 rwhp and the z06 has 340 rwhp...what's the solution to this? take weight out of the cobra or what??:shrug: i think the cobra should beat the z06 but it cant

Good question. The only vette that I have run was a 01 automatic conv. We stuck side by side all the way through third before we both let off. Vette had 350hp I had 305(advertised hp #s). I would have to run a Z06 now that I have my Procharger. Hopefully I can find one.
If not now then sooner or later. I do know that you can have them custom made. But believe me you will need to dish out some money.
Z06 curb weight is 3120 and my Cobra is 3400. That right there would make a big difference. Not to mention the Z06 has more hp stock for stock.
You have to remember that they have that 5.7L which isn't exactly lightweight.
I think a rule of thumb is maybe 10 hp to offset every 100 pounds in the 1/4 mile (the 10 hp or 100 lbs affecting 1/4 mile et by .1 sec). So maybe 400 hp to the Z06's 350.
I know this is magazine racing but I think MT had the Z06 @ 12.4 vs 12.9 for the Cobra. The Z06 weighs 500-600 lbs less and dynos @ 340-360 while the Cobra dynos @ 350-380 (but with 350-360 being most common). So for arguments sake, say the two cars tested were both @ 350. The weight would account for a .5-.6 et difference, which happened to be the case.
This may not all exactly jive, but it seems to be in the ball park.
Also my rule of thumb...70% Driver/30% What you drive.
Road & Track has the curb weight of the Z06 at 3115lbs and the Cobra at 3640. That's 525lbs or nearly 17% heavier so you would need about 17% more horsies to keep the power to weight ratio the same. About 60 to 70 HP. Quite a disadvantage.
Im sorry actually for th 98 Cobra its 3440lbs. on the curb weight, not 3400lbs.
The cobra is just heavier than the vettes.........417 more than a vert..........419 more than a coupe...............547 more than a z06........we need get our cars on the adkins program.........lol.
Actually.. bone stock, I easily beat one. People have to stop stating beliefs as truths. I would easily, stock for stock take a ZO6.
Same here. Its not like I smoked him or anything, but I did beat him. I had just gotten my car too, so I wasn't driving it nearly as well as I do now. We're in Colorado though, Darcsun. You gotta love the supercharger at altitude! :rockon:
