Have you notice the big ground strap at the back of the hood on the passenger side? Why does a composite hood need to be grounded? There's no light or electrical component on the hood.
Any ideas?

Thanks,
bob

It's actually the hood blanket that has a foil back that's grounded. It's supposedly for radio reception but most, myself included, have not had any issue with removing it. It's probably also to prevent static build up

I would bet it's just something used on the regular mustang that know one thought of removing. Then again maybe its a tie down in case the hood blows off from the power, LOL

Anybody want to ask their dealer? I always wondered myself what it was for.

LOL, but id rather have the hood blow off instead of that little strap holding onto it making it smack into the car if it did come off lol

That little braided silver ground strap saved my Cobra's
windshield, molding and roof. I had my hood up on a windy day
and a very strong gust of wind came and lifted the hood and it knocked out my prop rod.The hood went backwards and it
hit my drivers side wiper arm and it cracked my hood.
My insurance estimator figured that the windshield and roof
would be hit also, but it didn't happen, because the ground strap
didn't let the hood go backwards any further.
Thank God that ground strap was on there.
Don't take it off the car. Hood was $660.00,total job,$1,550.

I have the hood shocks, so no need for the prop rod. And if it is that windy I don't leave the hood up.
