Why is the OEM shifter console area so noisy??!!

man, im must say this thing just hoots n howls all the time. It feels like being in a F-body with an already modded pro 5.0 or something. I wouldnt think the stock shifter would be so noisy. The rattling doesnt bother me, but man turn the volume down on the radio dial (my exhaust is still stock, but a magnaflow is on the way) and you can hear some crazy ass noises coming from that console.

I dont think i could handle an aftermarket one in this car, i dunno what the hell it would sound like....

I know its a muscle car and not a M3 M6 transmission, but still you'd think it would be a 'tad' quieter for $30K grand

Get the MGW shifter. It's said to reduce those "hoots n howls."

Yep..What he said. I also used additional sound deafening material during the install. VERY quiet now :thumbsup:

I think alot of the noise has to do with the boot....the leather boot is extremely stiff and when its not in neutral and its moving...you can hear the leather squeaking. its a very thick boot too...not thin and flexible...so it makes weird stretching noises from time to time.

Pick up a set of my shifter gaskets and you'll get rid of a lot of that noise.
