Cobra with CAI and CB will lose to a properly driven stock Z06 from a 50 mph roll. Of course there are the rare few times when the Cobra wins, but for the most part the Z is the winner.

Btw, a Z06 with intake and catback will only dyno around 385.....not much more than stock. The stock catback is pretty damn good from the factory.

There was a video a while ago with a 385rwhp Z06 vs. an 03 Cobra w/CAI & catback. 2 of the 3 races...they were pretty much even and in one of the races the Cobra slightly edged it out.

Good drivers in both cars, a pullied and lightly moded Cobra will beat the one you called BPU Z-06 (talk from experience), but good drivers and your mods and you'll be killed. Anyway as others said, everything can happen in street racing.

ah...................NO!

An intake, CB, mid pipe Cobra would be a close race for a stock Z06 (still give the SLIGHT edge to the Z06) But a pullied Cobra shouldnt have alot of trouble with a Stock Z06. Even with intake and cat-back the Z06 still gives up the advantage to the Cobra. Like someone above said, the stock CB on a Z is not restictive at all. The only reason most swap it is for sound. So the only gain with both is 15 maybe 20rwhp. The Z06 is an awesome machine...

It'll be a close race for you since you've hit 11.46 in your Cobra but with those mods that he's talking about a ZO6 is running your times and maybe even a tenth or so faster!

What would a Z06 run with drag radials and a good driver? A Z06 ran a 13.3 last week when I went to the track. That night I ran a 12.1 with just a catback, FIPK, Pro 5.0 and E/T Streets.

13.3? it wasn't a ZO6, trust me! Just as GT's dress up to be Cobras those Hardtop 99-00 C5's do the same to be ZO6's. I ran a 12.86 in my 01 Z granny shifting so I know. I'd say with DR's and a GOOD driver there is no reason a ZO6 (02+) can't run high mid to high 11's in STOCK TRIM! With mods, you can't even imagine! It's not hard to get a ZO6 to run 10's. Full exhaust, airbox and a 100 shot on DR's will do it, thats all it takes! Get a Cobra to run 10's...you're talking about a complete blower swap.

It was a Z06, I just think the guy didn't know how to drive it. A friend of mine has a 2003 Z06 and couldn't get out of the 13's the first couple of times he went to the track. He finally got it down to a 12.8 and that's it.

:nonono: thats some sorry driving my friend! Those things run 11.9's out the box, proven! If you're running over a full second than its capable time then somethings definetely wrong.

Go to the track much? Silver 03 Z06 @ Mason Dixon was running between 12.9 and 13.1 1/4 mile times all day couple weekends ago, track prep was outstanding as well. You should really get out to the track more often, whats posted online is not always the norm....

There are a lot of old guys out there who pilot Z06s to embarassing times. I hope I never have to witness it either.

I've witnessed one older Z06 owning gentleman who would not rev his LS6 over 5500rpms compared to the 6500rpm max power range. He spoke of the added stress on the main bearings and that he was saving his engine's life by not reving higher as the SBC's don't like much above 5500rpms!!! I know J-Rod has gone 11.5 @ 118 in an 02 stock Z06. Only mod was a set of ET Streets @ a 6500rpm clutch drop!

Found this over at CorvetteForum.... Needless to say it shows how powerful a bolt on 390rwhp Z06 cam be......

Halltech stage 2 trap (stock air bridge)
MAF Translator
160 thermostat
ATI super damper (steel , stock diameter)
TPIS Oval throttle body and modified intake
TB bypass
Comp Cams roller rockers
918 valve springs , titanium retainers , hardened pushrods
FLP headers with off-road pipes (stock mufflers)
FLP custom fuel system
RAM clutch with billet steel flywheel
DTE stage 3 center section with 3.90 gears
DTE differential strut
10 mm plug wires
CCW front drag wheels & tires
26x11.5x16 ET Streets on ARE 16x8 wheels
FLP used LS1 edit to calibrate the speedometer for the 3.90 gears , turn the fans on earlier , delete the torque management and delete the EVAP system check for the new fuel system. No tuning was done with LS1 edit yet. All tuning was done with the fuel pressure regulator and the MAF Translator. The dyno numbers after the clutch and 3.90 gear were 389 rwhp and 369 rwtq.

I wanted to get a baseline before the supercharger went on so I took it to US41 (Indiana) yesterday. No matter how hot I got the ET Streets , they wouldn't hook up. It wasn't hopeless , but a 6000 rpm launch was out of the question. I did manage to peddle my way to a couple of 1.58 60' times. Here's the best:

60' - 1.580
1/8 - 7.195 @ 97.83
1/4 - 11.259 @ 123.71

This was backed up with an 11.278 @ 123.30. I was spinning a bit on the 1-2 shift and screeching the tires on the 2-3. On a better track or with some tweeking I'm sure I could squeeze a bit more out of it. I can't wait to see what will happen when the supercharger goes on.
