I don't think its a good idea.

You should just have a 'donate' button on website. I'm sure you would get plenty of duckets from that.

Just my $.02

I read a lot more than I post, but I can say that a forum for posting SOME unedited pics (ex: nude hottie in mustang = ok, straight up porn = BAD) and unlimited PM's along with all of the other info obtainable from this site make the $45 VERY worth it. The shirt, hats, and event tents are icing on the cake.

I already have to pay for premium fuel, so I think I will pass on the premium membership idea. Not that I'm against the idea, it just isn't for me.

Id be game! Given the group buys would be good not the same old things over and over again. That and quality things not saying it wouldnt be but im talkin on the line of like Dr's/Slicks, KB's/Whipples, Diablos, and not things like T/A covers and emblems. Things that really would benefit someone wanting to see real differences not just make my car look pretty stuff.

I was just talkin to a friend about this. He has an M3 and is part of the Bimmer forum and they have most all that stuff minus the $45 fee. I would pay the $45 to take advantage of it where they are using the site to host advertising which is the way you dont wanna go Sid. But my question in turn would be if a lifetime membership would be offerred at $250 or so. What would happen in 3-5yrs when everything need to be updated again wouldnt you be selling yourself short? Im not tryin to kill the idea of a lifetime membership but then again wouldnt everyone want longevity and not running into the problem of running out of funds on server upgrades and so on. I did this once before w a motorcycle group and it also became HIGHLY political and in a sense became all about the money and people actually began taking the groups money for personal use. Again not sayin it would happen but Ive seen it happen to one group already. Like I said Im in for the $45 and possibly a lifetime deal givin the list of vendors w group buys would be worth the admission.

yes, mostly beacause if it wasn't for this site, I would have probably blown my truck up by now.....would FFW in Commerce be a big enough event for the courtesy trailer?

Sid, please take notice that most of the people saying no are the ones who don't own an SVT vehicle, and are even stating that in their posts. You had a ford Ranger and probably planned on getting a Lightning. The other people who you related to yourself already have performance cars and some would even consider going to any SVT product as step down for them. You have made it very clear in the past that this site supports itself and is worth well into the six figure range, those facts aren't compelling reasons for members to feel they need to support this site. Infact I'm suprised you used the word support. The membership fee seems to be mainly to cover the extra effort and expenses that would go into outside events.

Also, I was wondering if you would consider doing a light membership, I would probably buy that. One that only gives the extra benefits on the site only. Many of us won't want to go to a meet or will be to far away to want to go (overseas).

I have owned enough fords to put one in every driveway on my block. I have had 2 lightnings, 3 cobra's 11 fox body's, and my latest is a GT500. I like the site just fine, but I will not travel to go to an event. I live minutes from Houston raceway park and I attend FFW there every year. So unless there the will be a tent at FFW Houston I would see a reason to pay 45 more dollars for an arcade and more PM's.

I think recent monetary endevors by the site serve as prime examples of the response that wil be received.

Remember the rule of "group buy" always applies. 50 says "i'd buy it" 4 pay.

Did you even read my first post?

Yes, I did. If I am not mistaken, not having a paid membership will affect PM's, search capabilities, access to photos, etc. You asked for opinions, now you have mine. Not that big of a deal, Sid - it's your forum.

You used the word "require," which implies no one will be given any access without being a premium member. No one will be required to pay anything to have access that is substantially the same level of access you have now.
