Ya, it's scary to think that unless you really know someone, you don't have insight on what is in there hearts and minds. Nothing too terrible but I've been backstabbed by people who I would have asked to stand up in my future wedding so they could serve their own interest. Guess I didn't really understand what they were about.
On a similar note, in the early 2000s my three times divorced aunt married a dude who was a convicted sex offender who had touched a child after his first divorce in the mid 90s. He did some time in prison but at the time he seemed like a super nice guy with a good job and a good father to his sons.
Word trickled out to my parents and other aunt and uncle and while nobody freaked out, they also didn't allow their children in any sort of unsupervised contact with the guy. The marriage fell apart as he went back to the booze later in the 2000s. A little over a year ago he was arrested with kiddie porn and of course claimed the phone that the porn was tracked on was lost. Dude is gonna go back to prison and I don't feel one bit bad for him.
While I always got along with the guy, and was almost 18 when I did meet him, I have no sympathy for those who mess with kids so I'll post the article -

He was never convicted. He was never even tried. That's what leads me to think it was BS.
Off with his head! There is way too many of these sick ****s in this world. They will get what’s coming to them one way or another.
You said he was in prison? That means he was convicted of something...
Probable cause was likely why he was in prison. He appeared in court a few times before being released but there was never a trial or conviction.
Then that would be jail.
I was interchanging the terms jail and prison. He was in jail.

You don't go to prison unless you're convicted of something. If his case was thrown out and he was released from jail, then yes, he was most likely innocent, or had a very good lawyer.

My mistake. I forgot there was a difference between jail and prison. Sorry 'bout that.
I just checked his case number and he is due in court again in October.
So then he was offered bail as he was not deemed a flight risk or a risk to the community and he subsequently posted bond.
None of that makes him more likely to be innocent or guilty of the crimes he was charged with.
On a side note, it's it ridiculous how long the legal system takes to play out? Lots of the big crime stories near me involve people who have previous charges pending and often warrants out for their arrest.
Those guilty of these kind of crimes need public execution more than anything else.

The heinousness of what he was accused of makes me think he either would have been denied bail or at the very least the terms of his bail would have forbade him from being around children. I've seen pictures of him online with his woman and her kids.
I'm also wondering if he is counter-suing his accuser for lying and manufacturing evidence.
