A month or so ago my buddy ran his car at a local ricer dyno day, he reported that it put don 440 with only a K&N FIPK, catted X, and a flowmaster cat back. I did not call bs on him making the numbers, I did call bs on the dynos accuracy.

I told him that it is pretty rare for a unpullied car to put down more than 400 (people have done it, but its not the norm).

Today there was a dyno day at a local performance shop with a dynojet that puts down very consistant numbers. They always use SAE corrected numbers, so they are a little lower than what most people claim.

All the cars today pretty much put down what was expected:
01 2v gt built, heads, cammed : 299 (has put down 330 on another dyno)
05+ GT: CAI, x pipe, cat back: 295
99 Cobra: cai, x pipe, cat back: 285
99-04 2v gt: Cai, X pipe, no mufflers: 237
93 5.0: AOD bolt ons: 185

All of those cars are within 10 hp of what they would average. There was some pretty heavy hitters with some off the wall combos, but I did not want to list them for comparisons sake.

I guessed that my buddies car would put down 385-390 SAE.
He put down 429 and backed it up with a 427, and a 425! (I will have to ask him about the torque numbers, I know that they were less than 400)

I was a little dissapointed with my numbers though: 476/466
I have a stg4 port
3.2 8lb
bbk 65TB
55lb inj
mac lts
O/R H
Flowmaster cat bk
BAP
Racerelated tune (previously put down 492/467 STD)
Solid axle w/ 3.73s
26x1015 ET Slicks

I think that the slicks and 3,73s hurt my numbers a little, and the fact that the defrost was left on (it runs the A/C,) Does the A/C clutch disconnect at WOT?
The dyno numbers dont matter that much to me, as the car performs well at the track.
My best time to date is a 10.89 @ 129.9 (I backed it up with a 10.99 @ 128)

Is my friends car one of the highest HP stock pulley cars?

read my sig. i was i little surprised at mine as well. but the #'s are right there for it. so it is possible to get it around 420 to 430 with minor mods. hope that helps.

Has he owned it since new?
Has anyone measured the lower pulley?
Does it have a tune?

No he recently bought the car.
It definately has a stock lower.
The upper looks stock, but I think that I'm going to pull the gaurd and belt off of it and measure it with a caliper.
The tune is unknown:shrug:

Mine dyno'd at 403rwhp and 376tq with a JLT Cai, O/R X pipe, and a Magnaflow catback.

I added a 2.8 upper and a tune and got 460/460.

Yeah your numbers are a little low for that combo, especially the torque  But your time rocks so this is a good reason to not get too concerned about dyno numbers.

As far as your buddy goes, I think that's the highest SAE dyno I've heard of for an intake/exhaust car. Would seem to be plausible based on what others have pulled but it could be hiding a mild upper/tune.

My Cobra in Stock form with only a Tune made 418/398.
I would think he would at least have a tune. Have you seen a Dyno Graph of a Bone Stock 03 Cobra. They are so Rich @ WOT it's not funny.
My buddy makes about the same numbers as your buddy with a 3.90 Pulley. You don't even need a tune for that pulley. I would measure it.

I dyno'd mine in October. The other cars and trucks that dyno'd were within 2 rwhp or so from what they had done before. Viper based SRT10 Ram Pickup 500+rwhp and 500 rwtq. Built up Nissan was only 2 hp off from a dyno session the day before and trailered home. A Honda that had been dyno tuned a few weeks ago was within 5 hp. So when it was my turn they strapped the Cobra down. First run 392 rwhp & 348 tq. 2nd pull 396 rwhp and 348 tq. This is completely stock with NOTHING done to the car.

Bear in mind that stock Terminators made from 340-395rwhp from the factory. So a Cobra that came from the factory with 390-395rwhp could very well see close to 430 with an intake and full exhaust. The average Terminator, though, with approx. 365rwhp from the factory, wouldn't come close.

I made 425 rwhp with a catback, intake and a 93 or 94 Octane tune.

The same day at the dyno event 2 other Cobra's with catback, intake (one alos with and X-pipe ) made 399 - 400 rwhp. My other buddies 10th Anniv only made 360 rwhp with an intake - he was pissed.

From what I have seen most Cobra's make ~ 400 rwhp with an intake catback.

With only a Magnaflow Catback and K&N FIPK, I made 413 hp, 380 tq before a tune. Air/fuel ratio was not safe, though. Same day 20 minutes later, my tune was installed and it then made a safe 419.5 hp and 392 tq. This was on a Dynojet, with 48,000 miles on the odometer, and I have owned the car since day 1. Also had on my fat and heavy summer tires/wheels, which probably sapped some of the power too.
