A month or so ago my buddy ran his car at a local ricer dyno day, he reported that it put don 440 with only a K&N FIPK, catted X, and a flowmaster cat back. I did not call bs on him making the numbers, I did call bs on the dynos accuracy.
I told him that it is pretty rare for a unpullied car to put down more than 400 (people have done it, but its not the norm).
Today there was a dyno day at a local performance shop with a dynojet that puts down very consistant numbers. They always use SAE corrected numbers, so they are a little lower than what most people claim.
All the cars today pretty much put down what was expected:
01 2v gt built, heads, cammed : 299 (has put down 330 on another dyno)
05+ GT: CAI, x pipe, cat back: 295
99 Cobra: cai, x pipe, cat back: 285
99-04 2v gt: Cai, X pipe, no mufflers: 237
93 5.0: AOD bolt ons: 185
All of those cars are within 10 hp of what they would average. There was some pretty heavy hitters with some off the wall combos, but I did not want to list them for comparisons sake.
I guessed that my buddies car would put down 385-390 SAE.
He put down 429 and backed it up with a 427, and a 425! (I will have to ask him about the torque numbers, I know that they were less than 400)
I was a little dissapointed with my numbers though: 476/466
I have a stg4 port
3.2 8lb
bbk 65TB
55lb inj
mac lts
O/R H
Flowmaster cat bk
BAP
Racerelated tune (previously put down 492/467 STD)
Solid axle w/ 3.73s
26x1015 ET Slicks
I think that the slicks and 3,73s hurt my numbers a little, and the fact that the defrost was left on (it runs the A/C,) Does the A/C clutch disconnect at WOT?
The dyno numbers dont matter that much to me, as the car performs well at the track.
My best time to date is a 10.89 @ 129.9 (I backed it up with a 10.99 @ 128)
Is my friends car one of the highest HP stock pulley cars?
