How much is that hood and how does it match up to the CAI? Does it lock up pretty well to seal off the heat?

Man this thread is making me wish I had gone ahead and jumped in with both feet instead of going with TB,CAI,NGK and tune.

Looking good so far.

Looks GREAT!!! Love the combo you're going with. I really miss the 2.8 Kenne Bell I had on my 2009 GT500!!! The power was SICK to say the least. You're gonna love that beast when your done. Thanks for posting the progress.

Thanks man! I cant wait to get it back from paint and finish it up...

I am anxious as well, trust me! :)

Have you thought about changing the heat exchanger while you're at it?
P1 Motorcars has a heat exchanger with dual fans coming off their race car so I might be installing that as well but we did notice that the stock heat exchanger has some amazing cooling capabilities after a few test drives. You can literally hold your hand on the blower with out any issues, try that on the stock blower!

Thanks man, looking forward to the final outcome! The hood is around $1k before shipping in fiberglass, 2k in carbon. The ram air lines up about 50% but the body shop is extending that so it lines up right with the JLT sealed box. With the 3.6L blower you have to notch the underside of the center rib in the hood about 6 inches long so it clears... its tight under there! :)

Thanks very much man. This forum gave me half the knowledge I have and made me move into this with some confidence. More info and pics to come after paint!

Sorry for the delay SVT! The paint booth at the body shop broke down and the guys have the hood prepped and are waiting to spray it. The second we get the car back the headers go on then the next stop is a tune session with John on the dyno... I can't wait to get it strapped down and see what it makes!

What made you change your fuel rails? Just a precaution or were they actually needed for our build?

They were changed for aesthetics primarily but also for future use with ID 2000's and a full return system... The Evolution Performace rails look amazing next to the blower though... And you have to remove the blower to install them so I pulled the trigger on them... Hopefully an update to come soon from the dyno!

Got the car back from the body shop this evening and the hood looks amazing! They did the surface in DIB, the louvres in matte black, and the underside in matte(ish) DIB to match the OEM engine bay. I am beyond happy! Headers are next then off to the dyno to let John at Lund Racing work his magic!

Wow, that hood looks pretty sweet! How much heavier than stock? Will the standard Redline hood struts fit / work?

The hood looks awesome. How much visual obstruction vs stock do you see while in the drivers seat? I used to have a notch with a raised hood and it was a huge difference what I could see in front of me. Love the build. Congrats.

HAHAHA! Thanks man! Loving this forum and all the support and energy...

Who makes the air filter with the screen?

Will have to check when I get back tonight...

Love the hood, looks awesome!

Thanks man! Full photo shoot coming soon... one with the car solo and another with a few cool cars mixed in...

Looks Sick!

Thanks man! HUGE congrats on your 9 second slip buddy!!!!

The obstruction really is minimal. I am not a fan of the huge cowl hoods for the street and this is a perfect balance for me. I will take pics of the stock hood vs this hood from the drivers seat. I am 6' 3" so I can see pretty well over everything...

UPDATE: the headers are hopefully going on this weekend then off to the dyno this coming week after some data logs :read: on the street... I CANT WAIT!

UPDATE:

Well, the headers did not arrive Friday as originally planned so they guys at P1 Motorcars cleaned the car up for me and arranged a little photo shoot with the crew from Heavy Metal Concepts. They shot the shops 2013 Black Series Alpha 9+ GT-R and my Shelby. It was pretty cool to see all of the work that went into this. Below are a few teasers before they all get edited... The headers are due to arrive tomorrow and will hopefully get installed this week in time for the dyno Saturday... fingers crossed...

Cool pics! Which car will be faster?

We will have to see what happens when the car gets on the dyno and John from Lund Racing works his magic... pump gas for pump gas the Shelby should be faster from a roll but wont ever stand a chance from a dead stop dig... The GT-R hooks so hard.

UPDATE:

The guys at P1 Motorcars got the headers done yesterday. Just as a reminder these are the 2" American Racing Headers (catless). A few things everyone should know... American Racing Headers makes one of the nicest headers I have ever seen for an American car. The quality/fit/finish is absolutely amazing. I HIGHLY recommend these in any size to anyone thinking about it! Also, to say that its tight up there would be a brutal understatement... MOTHER OF GODDDDDDDD! :bash::mj::cuss: Once they are in and all tightened down they clear everything perfectly... in order to install you have to remove several things such as: Driver side- oil filter, dip stick and tube, steering shaft Passenger side- starter, lower sub frame and engine off motor mounts.

I chose to retain the factory cat back exhaust for now to see what it makes on the dyno and how it sounds. The car sounds absolutely amazing! (video to come this weekend). If there are any questions on any of this please feel free to ask...

For now, here are some pics to check out. Hopefully we will get the car tuned next week when the crew from Lund Racing gets back from the races in Norwalk Ohio this weekend. Cant wait!
