2.9 Whipple here with built motor, cams, LTs, 3.5/4lb lower, etc and running pump gas with 2 cans of Torco per tank. Made 689/621. Boost was 24.5 and timing at 18*. Car could have made a little more if car was colder. Tuner says I'm at max timing for my setup. Close numbers to yours.
After chasing this coolant leak for a couple of weeks I finally got a usb boroscope and found that I have some coolant under the blower toward the rear of the block. Guessing it's running down from there to the bell housing. Must be a leak in the line that runs under the blower. Coming off for...
Crossover tube is fine. Oil cooler area is fine. Coolant freezing point is fine. Have to get someway to look at the back of the engine.mblower is coming off for injector swap so that will make it easier to see what's back there. My guess is o ring on pass side head for the heater hose. We had...
Oil cooler and area are dry. Its definitely coming from above. Will trouble shoot again this evening and try to get a better look. Its a very minor leak but just puzzling me as the car has sat since November and now a leak. Must be a slow drip pooling up somewhere.
Coolant is fine as it is freezing where I live and it was nixed correctly.
PCV has been deleted under blower which is plugged.
I'm thinking heater line as well. Have to jack it up and crawl under I suppose.
No head cooling mod. My thoughts were line in back of head or the heater line. Just curious as to why it starts dripping now. What's the best way to check? Hard to see all the stuff behind there.
Cobra has been parked in my garage since November and hasn't been started since. Noticed last week there was a small amount of coolant under it toward the rear of motor. Just a few drops. Got under and could see a small drop forming on the bottom of the bell housing. Any ideas where this is...
So once the whole assembly is out there is no need to separate blower from the lower assembly? Just angle the rails out?
Also, I have the older style Fore rails. Did you need to notch the blower with the id1000s?
Just looking at the car and I'm definitely more comfortable with pulling the blower to do it.
MalcomV8, any regrets with swapping the 2.9 for the TVS? Any track times with either?
Thanks for the link. Looks easier to pull the whole unit imo.
As for the TVS it has crossed my mind. Figure I should try to spin the 2.9 a little harder first before I switch though but you have me thinking. Lol
Ready to install id1000s on my Cobra and was assuming I had to pull the blower to do so. Had a friend tell me I could do it without pulling the blower. 2.9 Whipple standard inlet with Fore rails. Anyone ever do this without pulling the blower?
I'm in your area and run straight 91 octane but the car was tuned for it before I brought the car here from the US. I had it on a local dyno and tune is dead on. I suggest bringing the car to St.Johns/Placentia to check th tune. I have heard stories of guys getting bad gas here on the island so...
Same thing happened to me last year. Exhaust valve seat fell out of the head on the #5 cylinder(second from the front drivers side). You will need to pull the head and inspect. Most likely the valve made contact with the piston if you see shavings. Best case scenario you need to get the seat...
