Blanket Removal

Thanks for the tip, guys! This was one ten-minute project that reaped great results.

Quickest way:

Remove the ground strap from fender; you can replace the screw back into the fender for safe-keeping.

Use a flat chisel or screwdriver to gently unseat the round connector, then slide the rear claw of a standard carpenter's hammer under the connector's head for a quick and smooth removal. Repeat for the rest of the connectors.

A small section was not painted under my hood, so I'll be airbrushing some type of a cool design to finish off the look.

I went the velcro route to hold back the covers.

I'm really happy with the clean look, and I know the engine will surely appreciate this mod.

Regards,
Peter M

Have not touched it yet. Did not even know anybody was doing anything to it. But now after everything I have read if my hood is painted I am going to remove it all and leave it like that...

Just did mines right now, and its not painted underneath:( .
Oh well, I think im just going to leave it off anyways. I really dont care how it looks anyway. Im not in car shows anyways. But Im also thinking about repainting my blanket and painting the COBRA letters white, with the hood mod.

I think he means the word COBRA. All of ours should have come with it. I know my 03 SB did.

I thought the foil was more or less there to help evaporate water as it drips in from rain and washing. Either way, my foil is starting to corrode... I'm going to check for a fully painted hood and remove if so. BUT, if it's not painted, I wonder if the Dealer will replace it, since the foil is corroding.

The dealer will probably call that "normal wear and tear". I guess if you have a cool service dept. they would do it though.

I painted it satin black with just plain old spray paint. Works great.
