I have a 04 cobra with:

2.3 gen 1 @19lbs
Return fuel system
Bbk long tubes
O/r x
3" Mac cb-will be dumps soon for weight
Tubular qa1 k member/ a arms
Coil overs up front
Bf IRS brace with bushings
Rear seat delete
No spare tire-jack ext
Pass seat will be out at the track
Bigs and littles will be on
No trunk carpet
No front sway bar
26 spline liberty input
Spec 5 clutch
6 speed
The car currently makes 620hp/589tq on 93oct. I will get a race gas tune and probly add a 2 or 4lb lower for the gas tune.

What else should I need to hit a 9 besides Jesus being in the passenger seat to make sure I shift good? Lol I don't know what it does now I haven't been to the track yet.

What's your thoughts?

Thanks
Jay

For a stockish weight 03-04 cobra 6speed irs 710-720rwhp and great driving and good tires. E85 and more boost the best way to get there.

Hmm ditch the IRS or add a 100 shot to it and that's if you can get your 60's down to 1.45 or better probably. You'll pretty much need to run a 28" slick also.

There's only been like 2 or 3 2.3 Whipple cars to run 9's I think so you're setting a pretty high goal for yourself.

What gears and if I was still running my 2.3 Whipple with the 6 spd I think I'd go with 4.10 gears for the track with a 28" tall slick. That should be about perfect for that combo.

Good tune, run the car cool with ice in the IC resevoir, and powershift as best you can. Let us know how you do.

That's good info, I want to do the sra for both weight and durability also but may be next season first. I would do e85 but that's not happenin because there's none close at all so 109 it is. I'll power shift it like hell and I'm sure it will need it to even get close to a 9. I probly won't hit a 9 this season but I'm building the car toward the 9's as I go. What rpm would I cross the line at with 4:10'a and 28" slicks?

6500'ish if I can remember correctly and that's about perfect for that Whipple imo.

Sounds good! Never know I may have a 3.4 before I even try this. Haha I would like to try and get the 9's with the gen1 2.3.

I have a similar goal if I go with a 2.3 whipple, I was gonna keep it on 19lbs on boost on pump with a stand alone nitrous system for 75-100 shot just to make sure I had enough.

I asked a few guys on here that have run 2.3 whipples and are running 10.2s with 630rwhp or so.....it just comes down to having the car set up properly and lots of practice.

What would it take? This: a visit to the shop where the tool with the 3000 HP "Cobra Killer" 370z had his work done. And bring vaseline.

i have a similar goal, Id like to go mid 9s @ 14Xmph with a 6 speed.
26 spline input w spec 3+ TOB sleeve etc (id like to go twin disk in the future)
built SRA 373s UPR antiroll bar, bushings, uca's, lca's, extended studs etc
wet kit with 100 shot jets

The suspension is pretty much ready just need new springs for my QA1s up front, alignment, and possibly different rear springs or coilovers for the rear.

I will be swapping my eaton out for a 2.8KB most likely (maybe the LC version)
-return style fuel system on E85

I was just rear ended so hopefully when the car is back on the road I will have
longtubes and a QA1 Kmember/control arms to go with it.

-kmember/control arms/springs/longtubes - dial in the suspension
-2.8KB w return style for E85

How fast do you want to go? How much money do you have to spend?
That's all it takes...
