the kid survived, he used his head. to the bjj guys chiming in, you should know better. bjj will get you killed in this situation. am i the best fighter in the world? no, but i will tell you from my experience the kid did the right thing. i trained under Renzo in nyc and Matt later on. i've bounced at Webster Hall in nyc for years. i'm a LEO for over 11yrs and on SRT. bjj is not a good street fight art, sorry it's just not. i'm seeing a rise of idiots getting the shit kicked out of them because they think they can use their bjj/mma skills in a street fight. i do not doubt your skill level, and wish you further success in the art. i invite you to NY and i will put you in a cell with 2 inmates who are predicate violent felons facing murder charges and you can use your bjj. if you win, i will take you Peter Lugers for steak.

Mike

To be fair the majority of fights do end up on the ground in some way or another. Your average "bar brawler" will have no skill, no base, nothing when it goes to the ground. I have to disagree with saying that bjj has no value in a street fight. But as stated before, this kid would have gotten his ass beat in this situation no matter what.

Roger Huerta Caught on Tape in Street Fight -- MMA Fighting

Sorry Im too stupid to embed, but I love this video. The big guy turned out to be a star texas a&m (or something) football player. I guess he was drafted by atlanta Falcons, but never played.....so obviously he is a very stong, athletic guy. Obviously Roger Huerta is no joke either lol, but I love watching him hold it down for us 155lbers and whoop some deserving ass.

This is the very reason concealed weapon permits are legal in the US! Never leave home without it!

May want to check the laws in WV regarding CC'ing in an establishment that serves alcohol.

It would be so much fun to be the prosecutor on that case. :lol1:

Maybe the part about the medal, but if the kid was a drug dealer then he got what was coming to him. I had to confront a few that were selling oxys, among other things, to my brother. Judging by the fact the kid didn't run to the police after the assault might indicates the type of person he is.

not necessarily. typically when the cops show up, they listen to the bouncers/security because that's their job. he probably assumed it would just be his word against theirs. who the hell knew the video would come out lol. and as mentioned, he was probably afraid of reprisal as well. if the thug bouncer is crazy enough to do shit like this he'd probably be crazy enough to hunt the kid down later too.

I think Krav Maga would come into great practice in this situation. Homeboy didn't stand a chance, and I agree, I think he did the right thing.

that's what i was thinking too. quick gouge to the guys eyeball or whatever and he'll be on the ground screaming. then just book it out of there. ive seen krav maga training in person before and seen little 40 year old ladies do some nasty moves. fight against an mma guy and you may get choked out, or a broken nose or arm. fight against someone trained with krav maga and you might come out with one eye or worse. :uh oh:

i said in that situation. NEVER, NEVER go to the ground in a multi assailant fight. in the situation in the video, you're dead if you go to the ground. you do everything you can to stay on your feet.

Oh yeah In that situation definitley stay on the feet. In any fight I would try to keep it standing, but I would be very comfortable if it did go to the ground for some reason.

off topic, but as mma guy you will appreciate this. i'm sure if you know who Phil Nurse is, but he's a famous MuayThai boxer. he's also GSP's Muay Thai trainer. he opened a school in NYC around the block from were i worked last year. i decide to join so i can learn from a legit Thai fighter. i had the honor of rolling with GSP and Jon Jones. they came in for a week to help Phil and his school. it was humbling and an honor. Jon Jones is just amazing. his natural strength and agility is amazing. GSP is what you saw on TUF, a gentleman. i have shit luck, but i always happen to get lucky when it comes to training with pro's

Now that is awesome. I wish that bouncer picked on Roger Huerta, or a guy like him, and caught that on film. Seeing stuff like what that bouncer did really pisses me off. I hope he gets what he deserves and more.

if you think Roger Huerta walks around at 155 you are crazy.

the victim in the video did the smartest thing he could. In those situations it is not a skillful punch that takes you out, it is always the one that connects to the back of your head from the guy your not looking at. In those situations you are lucky if you manage to get off one glory punch.
