What I dont' understand is why you are so apparently butthurt over the fact that it is not a SVT... Who the **** cares that it's not a part of SVT.

An SVT badge would add costs and very little in terms of performance. The Mach 1 is a GT with a 4v engine and an apprearance package, that's it. Additionally, the engine costs were kept down because it was an assembly line unit, not a special hand built piece. Not that the "hand built" engines were any better; they had just as many problems as earlier Mach, Marauder and Aviatior engines.

I don't care that it didn't make it...I was just wondering why they didn't include it into SVT, it is a hell of a car so why not take it a step further? I'm not saying they had to compete with the termi's out of the factory, but why not make it more? I thought it was a decent question lol

because the SVT of the Mustangs is the Cobra, the SVT of the trucks is the lightning and then the Raptor, the SVT of the midsize was the contour and the SVT of the small cars was the Focus. ALL were designed and tested by the SVT team. They didn't need or want two svt mustangs.

The same reason that roush and saleen couldn't get their hands on the svt engines. I know of a few cobras that were bought and sent to saleen but that was a customer option and not a factory ford option.

I gotcha...I was just thinking about the production of Mach's only being 2 years, but I understand why they didn't do it...It would've been kind of cool to have two svt cars those two years tho! I just randomly started thinking more about this the other day so I thought I'd say something about it...

Good point...I knew people could do that but I never thought about it in this situation I guess..

As said, it's like the Boss 302/GT500 now. Both are AMAZING cars, but typically, SVT has been a "cobra mustang" and nothing else. And to say a Mach 1 is just a gt with better engine and appearance package is like saying the GT500 is the same as a new 5.0L with appearance package/bigger engine, it's stupid to say that! Sit in a stock V6, GT, Mach 1, Then cobra. All 4 are different (V6 and GT are similar) from the inside. Why are people b*tching? 03/04 gave us MANY MANY options for the mustang we wanted.

Why would it be "cool" for the MACH 1 to be apart of SVT?

The MACH 1 mustang does NOT need SVT on or near it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that the Mach's were built very well and brought back alot of the "old school" look, along with having the 4v engine, I think that the thought of adding a little more rarity to it might have been a good idea when they built them...It's not like anything can be done to change the way they were made now, I was just wondering what the deal was...and I thought some people on here might know more about it!

I'd rather the mach 1 stay apart from SVT. Back in the day the "cobra" or Shelby of the day was built by shelby automotive. Fords big daddy home built fast cars were the mach 1's. The last thing Ford wants is to put out the idea that if it doesn't have an "SVT" emblem on it, that it's not fast or performance minded.

That makes alot of sense...and we all know the Mach's aren't slow :)

Wut?? Not.

Maybe I should elaborate. They are two amazing machines just different teams worked on them and they both appealed to different consumers. It's not an SVT because that team did not develop, engineer, or turn wrenches on the Mach 1 as it was an assembly line car. I wouldn't get butt hurt over it because I'd car more about a cars performance than an SVT badge.

Yes, I am.

I own a Mach but there is nothing special about it except for the engine and shaker.

Then there's nothing special about the 03/04 Cobras because they're basically a Mach with a blower and appearance package.

:rollseyes

What difference does it make that SVT didn't have a part in the Mach? Why would Ford want 2 SVT stangs in the same 2 years? Ford needs to have their own specialty Mustang every now and then and since it doesn't have a specialty team on it they can keep the prices down.. They're both awesome Mustangs no matter who did/didn't have a part in the building of it.

A gt is just a V6 with a V8 and 8.8 rear end...a mach 1 is just a gt with a dohc motor, shaker, bigger brakes, better seats. A cobra is....a cobra!:coolman:
