EGR delete Pros & Cons

I did it for the looks and make it easier to remove the blower. Haven't noticed mpg since I usually romp on it all the time.

Mine is deleted too...i cant believe you guys are worried about gas mileage in a supercharged vehicle...if u need good gas mileage get a freaking prius for christ sakes.

So if your car got 4 mpg you wouldn't care? Yeah didn't think so. Checking if keeping my EGR or removing it is perfectly legit. If it makes no difference to HP and improves gas mileage why not use it? Just because my car has a supercharger doesn't mean it has to burn unnecessary extra fuel like some white trash camaro. You are a tard!

Neither. The amount less it would give you is so small that it would be balanced out over normal driving. You would not notice it. I have had mine off for about 5 years with zero changes but cleaner engine bay.

I did mine differently, since I wanted the clean look, but did not want to deal with the potential for failing smog checks since I live in MA, or creating issues for someone else should I sell it. I relocated all of the crap on the side of the blower to inside the wiper cowl, so it all still functions, except for boost bypass solenoid, which I deleted (still run the bypass, but with vacuum, instead of the solenoid). This way, I retain full function for emission testing reasons, but still have the sanitary look. Personally, I see no good reason to eliminate completely when it will just create inspection hassles down the road (depending on where you live). Even if you don't have smog checks where you live, you may sell the car to someone who does, and then you are on the hook for repairs if it doesn't pass inspection. I have had my fill of worrying every year about getting a reject sticker like I used to get with my old 5.0.

Subscribing. I would like to do this for the simple reason it looks like a figging birds nest on the side of my blower! Also, if I go with a return style fuel system in the future doesn't that eliminate the EGR anyway?

Return does not have anything to do with the egr at all. You may be thinking of the FRPS, but many choose to leave that in place since it helps with datalogging your fuel pressures at different rpms. See my post above to see my solution to the "bird's nest".;-)

+1 ^^^^^ as above about less hassels down the road for you or the next owner having to worry about emission changes.

I like your idea of retain'g all EGR components inside the cowl ...any pics available when you did yours?:shrug:

theoretically the gas mileage goes down. (affects cruising mixture)

If you've ever torn down an engine that uses EGR to see all of the carbon and $hit @#$@#$# it recirculates back through the intake and cylinder head. You'd have to be off your rocker to put it back onto any engine that you have signficant $$$$ invested into. It made me sick to see what it did.

This is my 0.02 the small increase in fuel mileage is not worth the crap that it recirculates into my engine.

Please be aware some whom have upgrade to MAC long tubes (this is not a one time incident, but several mustang cobra owners from years back), found that the EGR recirculated flash / slag left over from the manufacturing of the headers. The egr effectively dumped metal bits back into the engine and destroyed the engine. loss of compression due to scoring in the cylinder bores, major blow-by. Basically turned the engine into a paper-weight.

After seeing that first hand I'll never use EGR on anything other than a daily beater!

I would definitely recommend removing it. I never noticed any negative affects of removing it. It looks so much better and it's so much easier to work under the hood.
