This thread has really shown the "great divide" between Cobra and 5.0 guys. I mean, theres a HUGE rift. And just going back and reading everything, its pretty clear why.

When you spend $30k+ on a GT (unless you're on here...all these guys got their GTs for $19k. Just ask.), you expect too much from it. It's refined...its packed full of tech..its roomy...it has a warranty...and it will absolutely get slapped across the face by a well-built Cobra.

The 5.0 was built to be an all-around good car. That's fine.

The Terminator was built for one reason: speed. Thats it. And a jack-of-all-trades is never spectacular in one category. The Cobra is not refined, doesn't have sync, etc. But you 5.0 guys are trying to pick on the speed of them...and that's the one section the Cobra simply wins at. Hands down.

the 5.0 is my slow car. so slow i get suprised when i try to pass a bunch of cars in a line and have to wait for power that is never coming...

in stock form it is superior in every way that matters to a cobra.
in modded form it can make 450-500rwhp on motor.
on boost it can handle 650hp forever.

its a fine engine that is not fully understood or respected by older enthusuaists...older meaning older model modular owners.

it has its limits...804rwhp as run by justin burcham.

its easy to quote extreme examples to prove a point. the average cobra makes 450-480rwhp. some are ported and make 475-511rwhp. they are hardly problem free at that power level. fewer still are screwed and make 600-750rwhp. how many folks run race gas? fewer still run E85 and all the expensive mods it takes to run that fuel.

keep it in perspective. 450-550rwhp isnt much really. you might kill my coyote unless i simply spray it...then go on about my business driving a superior product. nothing wrong with a termi or GT500, thought about getting one when i bought this. i already have a forged Teksid, so i dont need either.

Quoting extreme examples? You DO know that factory Cobra blocks have broken 1000HP right? THAT's a piece of information that apparently can't be completely understood or respected by the new guys..er..5.0 guys....:-D

I know A LOT of Cobras running 500rwhp with no issues. And one of the most popular mods for Cobras is....an aftermarket blower. So I wouldn't necessarily say, "Oh, there's only a few KB Cobras running around...." That's how you get BIT, so to speak.;-)

I guess "Superior Product" is a truly relevant ricer term though. So, if banging along listening to Vanilla Ice tell you how he likes to cruise along in a 5.0 also is your thing and makes you feel better, so be it. For me, "Superior Product" would be the car that puts the other car in the side view mirror, and then around to the rear view mirror...and keeps it there until it's gone.

I guess the new GTs don't look all that bad from the front. ;-):thumbsup:

My opinion, I like the way the 03/04 cobras look, that's why I have one. And they will PROBABLY be worth more down the road than a GT, which is another reason I have one. To each his own though. Get what you want and enjoy it, but also appreciate the other because it is what it is, a bad a$$ ford product.
