I hate to say this but .... the other week I was driving my GT500 and I saw a Honda Civic CRX (I couldn't really tell, it looked like a POS) come up behind me at a good clip. I sped up but I underestimated the guy. We got on a two lane on ramp with a long lazy curve and I just smoked him. I kept my car in fourth and then no sooner had I looked in the rearview mirror this clown was on my left quarter panel. I thought about downshifting to third but just kept it in fourth.... he just took off from there... muffler popping and that high whiney compression engine noise. Point... For me it wasn't worth racing. Every time he shifted I thought his car was going to explode but I have to admit, it was quick. Deceivingly quick.

When is the race?

We are running today at 3:00pm EST at natural bridge raceway. My friend is handing me the keys because he has a broken right wrist, thumb, index and middle finger. If that were not the case he would be driving. He asked me to drive mostly because I also own a cobra and have dragged a good bit. I'm not saying I am the best or the worst but I do have some experience (On a track, anyway.) The money from both sides has been collected and a neutral party is holding it. Last night we had a meet with both cars present. Under the hood of the CRX is a B16 swap, CX racing 38mm single turbo, AEM CAI.. The exhaust is homemade from what looks like bent sheet metal and some really bad weld-job. And it has JDM headers. Everyone there was calling out a little BS on the claims of 400+hp and 10's but the guy is holding strong that he is gonna take the cobra. He already gave up his money so we will see later today. Thanks for all the input guys, keep it coming. Results soon.

i have seen some ratty cars run very very well...

i got annihilated by a 89 civic hatch with a k20 swap and spray in my 700whp KB+150 shot lightning. kid had drag radials and a progressive controller and the little thing caught me and took off. his car weighed something like 2100 with him in it, i felt like such a prick and was out $100 at TNT night.

if the kid is serious it COULD be fast, but if its hacked accordingly i COULD also see him going down in flames.

OP, any tire on the cobra? good luck and let er rip! bring home the win!

Never mentioned a dyno but like you said, I think he maybe guessing. 400+ seems a bit steep for those mods..I looked up the cx racing turbo...its like the wal-mart brand of turbo. That, and the 38mm is the smallest one available. Retail is like, $700. I don't know who all will be attending but I will try to find someone to video it for us that will let me post it up. If anyone is interested and in my area the Natural Bridge raceway lets mustangs run free every friday after 2:00pm. It's a pretty decent track too.

I have raced some ratty hondas that were pretty quick in MY stang, which is a little slower than the one in question. This one deffinetly fits the "beater" catagory. its one of those half white, half primer and some spattered bondo cars. I have yet to lose to one so hopefully my luck wont change today..Running street tires on the stang for this. I had considered letting him use my stickies but he thinks it wont be nessesary. I drove it some last night to get used to the responsiveness and subtle differences from my car to his. Pretty similar so it should be a good race. We are doing a best 2 out of 3 system.

Well the general consensus with B16's is that 300 whp is the safe limit for stock bottom ends. If he has around that number and you got 200 more rwhp and about 2000 more pounds i think it will be a drivers race.

The CRX that smoked me looked like somthing drug out of a scrap yard. I think the driver was sitting on a tied down milk crate.

u better swap to your stickies pal, a 350whp honda (which is probably more accurate) on good rubber would most likely get the best of you if youre on street tires.

trying to talk him into it. haha. With DR's I'm sure I could get him. If, from what I'm reading on here is true and those motors are safe at 300whp then with the 200+ advantage and stickies, the CRX should get worked. I couldn't tell from what I saw last night because of the lighting, but I'm thinking this dude might be planning on spraying. I seen no bottle nor lines or intake tampering but he seems pretty darn sure of himself. Guess we will find out shortly.

The funny thing is the fact that it is a "lose, lose" situation for the cobra. If the cobra wins...well he should win!!! It's a cobra!!!!! If the cobra loses...well....haha!!!! You just got beat buy a junk civic!!!
