Whaaaat? So because a car has aftermarket support it's not good enough from the factory? Seeing as how every car has aftermarket support in one form or another (except maybe the Veyron), I guess there's nothing "good enough."

Now you get it:) Take it how you want, but most would agree that any car ( or truck) could benefit from some more power, better wheels, tinted windows, or whatever the owner thinks it needs.

Man, is this thread still going? Sorry about the lack of reading comprehension posts, I was busy at the track. Pics and vid to come in a new thread that hopefully doesn't turn into what this one did.

But that doesn't mean a car isn't "good enough." :dw: Especially if the car you own leads it's closest competitors (the 5.0 to the SS and SRT8).

Blah, blah, stuff, things....trying to accelerate past 140 mph...blah, blah...the new Coyotes respond way better to any given mod than a old Modular so what I said makes perfect sense to me.

What? Numerous 700-800+hp cars and a STOCK longblock makes for an unreliable foundation for mods ? Dude, not sure what you're smoking. I have a 78k mi car that has been pullied(etc.) for 50k and a 125 shot for the last 25k. It gets its ass kicked DAILY. Runs like a champ.

Dunno everything there is to know about the new 5.0 plant...but the 4.6 in the Cobra is consistently proven to be an INCREDIBLY durable motor. Rarely do you hear about one letting go and when they do its usually a lean condition due to tuning or a subsystem failure.

Making hero runs in the mile aside, these motors make an insane amount of RELIABLE hp. Head over to the Terminator section and puke up that crap you're trying to feed me...school is in session.

I find it hard to believe in factory spec, the Coyote motor is a MORE reliable power plant.

Sorry OP but this thread is gone anyways...

cobrakon.... In my local group there is a 11.3 @ 125 Neon How does your slobra feel about that?

well it means the 5.0 is not better than the neon and you do need to stop saying it is. i just want you guys to know that i really like the 5.0s. the ones they were making back in the late 80's and early 90's were really nice cars. the new ones look like crap.

Sweet! I am not sure of your intent, but posting a "sort of" race against a car that may have had a 150hp deficit was bound to create some criticism. I personally don't come up against much as far as races go, but I probably wouldn't post a run against a Tiburon.

Looking forward to the vids though. When somebody throws $20-30k into a brand new car, I am always down for watching.

Boss if you haven't had one but since 12/2011 then I probably know a lot more about them than you do. I bought mine back in 06. And no there aren't a whole lot of factory motor Terminators running around at 700/800 WHP reliably, especially not with frequent street use. Don't kid yourself. Why do I need to head over to the Terminator section? I use to frequent it all the time, and know quite a lot about the cars. Lean condition? I've seen more threads where people grenade there factory longlocks because they've burn up a piston or two than I care to try and remember. Whether it was from a leak condition,(seeing as how there are so many shitty tuners out there that can't put a good tune on these cars so lets blame them) or some dumb owner doing some sustained 5th/6th gear pull and putting a huge load on the motor creating a bunch of extra heat it doesn't matter because it all ends up the same.

All me saying this stuff over there would serve to do would be to get a bunch of fanboy's bitching. Go to LS1Tech and tell them that 03/04 Cobra's are better then LS1 Gen4 Fbodies. They are built with very strong parts but they are not known to be INCREDIBLY reliable, when you start throwing a lot of HP at them. Some get lucky, some don't.

They are a good strong motor, but they sure as hell aren't world beaters,(at least not in 2012) and you can take that motor and build it to be a whole lot better than it is in factory form.

who cares? the cars run about the same times and both motors are very durable if properly tuned and maintained. give me a sonic blue 03 cobra with some nice 18" afs wheels over any 5.0 anyday and everyday. the 03 cobras just have something that none of these newer cars do. ten years old and going up in value since 2009. gotta love it.

At least you spelled retarded right. Most who throw that out end up with an extra T somehow.
