I dont think a 5.7 will do 160. I had an 07 RT for a patrol car and the highest I ever had it was 147 ish. The new ones MIGHT do 150-155 but I dont see 160 especially with all the extra weight of the cage and equipment.

Weight has very little to do with top speed. It effects acceleration, most definitely, but not top speed. Aerodynamics or lack of it, is what really kills the Chargers top speed.

Here are the results from the 2012 Model Year Police Vehicle Evaluation Program.
Lots of great information in this PDF file:

2012 Model Year Police Vehicle Evaluation Program - Michigan State Police

TOP SPEED TEST OBJECTIVE
Determine the actual top speed attainable by each test vehicle within a distance of 14 miles from
a standing start.

TOP SPEED TEST METHODOLOGY
Following the fourth acceleration run, each test vehicle continues to accelerate to the top speed
attainable within 14 miles from the start of the run. The highest speed attained within the 14 mile
distance is the vehicle’s score on the competitive test for top speed.

2012 Dodge Charger 5.7L
AXLE RATIO 2.65:1
TOP SPEED ATTAINED: 152 mph

2012 Dodge Charger 5.7L
AXLE RATIO 3.06:1
TOP SPEED ATTAINED: 151 mph

you're from Canada though, so your input doesn't count. Have you not seen the South Park movie?

this is the dumbest thread on here. SERIOUSLY OP? it's a ****ing charger, not a 13 GT500.

But strangely enough you keep posting. You guys completely missed the point of the thread. A CVPI would give up, rightfully so, as soon as a bike takes off because they take forever to accelerate. The Chargers are much quicker and faster than the CV making it possible for a bike to not get away when they are used to blowing away cruisers. Has nothing to do with them being a GT500 etc...................Can't believe I had to explain that.

I think some of you are way underrating the speed/power of a 06+ stock 600cc modern sport bike. Point in case my old 03 r6 bone stock went 10.9 @ 125. My 06 gsxr600 stock pulled a local member/close friend many times from rolls varying from 20-45, his car is a whipple/cams 03 cobra that made 690whp. Find someone who can actually ride and that doesnt weigh 150+lbs.

I had an 06' GSXR600 also... not a SLOW bike at all... and you can flick it around the curves with ease... I had ZERO chicken strips left on my tires .

you are a ****ING moron my friend. and an ignorant one at that. can't fix stupid so kudos on your plight. a 4000+ lb 5.7 Hemi Charger is a 14 second car with a POSSIBLE top speed of 150. a 600cc sport bike will get up to 150 about 30 seconds and 3 miles faster than a POS charger. OP's story is horseshit.

The story is VERY possible especially with a passenger although I don't see why anyone who was being pursued would pull into a driveway in plain view of the cop.

Also the general law if is someone dies in the event you are committing a crime(robbery, assault, or even street racing) you are responsible for that death. Even if you and a buddy rob a store and the clerk kills your buddy its on you.

People are also forgetting the bike has to cut traffic, aside from the most retarded people, most move out of the way for lights and sirens.

I doubt many people on bikes would try splitting traffic at 150+. Clear straight road with no traffic is night and day compared to a normal days traffic on the interstate/highway.

-A 2v GT will go 145 stock.. takes 3 miles, but it will go 145

-chargers arent shit, and cops don't even have the "better" ones

-Whoever was riding those bikes sucked ass.

I've outran 2 chargers and 3 CV on the Busa. Long straight, cruising around 40-50 over then the "oh shit" moment happened. when one pulls out of the woods. top speed doesnt outrun cops on a bike. turning off, WOT, turning, WOT, turning, WOT, and riding like you are in a maze until you find a place to hide does

i'm quite willing to bet I'm older than you dumbass and the story is exactly as described: a STORY. IF the vehicles could pilot themselves, you'd be laughing at the thought of a POS charger running with a couple POSSIBLE liter bikes but most likely 600's. Throw in human error and who knows what is possible but you'd have to be Stephen Hawking on a race replica to suck that bad at riding. You're a misinformed jackass. case closed.
